The Taoist continued with his story: “The governor recently often felt upset and was losing his temper easily, because he had gone through a lot of cases that had given him a headache.
One day, a servant, carrying a bowl of soup, entered his office and said: ‘Master, you haven’t eaten anything from yesterday, please have this chicken soup. Suddenly, another servant came to report that there was an old monk outside the door asking for help. The governor did not want anything to bother him, yet he had believed in Buddhism when he was little. When he opened the door, there was an old monk standing outside and said: ‘Amitabha. I do not mean to disturb you, but the rain is too heavy outside. May I stay over night in your house?’ The governor immediately replied: ‘Sorry! There are too many officials coming to visit me. Having a monk living here is really not convenient. Please go find another place.
