Burnley 1-4 Chelsea | Highlights - EXTENDED | Premier League 2023/24 | Chelsea FC

It has been a much better time to be at Blue just lately. Signs of improvement in all areas and the results to match. Today brings a chance to go into the international break off the back of three wins in a row. And that has not happened since month number one under Graham Potter exactly a year ago. Chelsea are at Burnley this afternoon. An afternoon that is warmer than any afternoon has any right to be in mid-October. Burnley who won last time out for the first time since promotion. That was in midweek against fellow promoted club Luton away in a rearranged match. They might not be too tired from that. It's only 24 hours after Chelsea had won pretty comfortably away at Fulham. Despite winning in that match against Luton he has changed four of his starters here. Mostly out of choice. In come Vitinho at fullback. Delcourt, Trezor and the new teenager Wilson Odeber. Their top scorer is Lyle Foster. He's already scored three Premier League goals. As for Chelsea, Mopo has made one starting change despite good signs at a first goal it's Mudrick who makes way for Sterling. So that means Kukere continues to fill in at right back and Armando Breuer stays in up front with Nico Jackson left on the bench following his return from suspension. Palmer's found Sterling here. That's worth a hit. Lovely curl up. And Trafford was worried enough that he put in the full on dive. I love Cole Palmer's first thought it's always a forward ball, Sam. Yeah, really good stuff. Once more from Palmer. That's brilliant from Sterling. He just didn't quite get enough bend on it. From Trezor. Vitinho playing it forward here for Lyle Foster. He's gone inside. Di Zazee. Thiago Silva couldn't touch him. Odeber. Burnley 1 Chelsea 0. He's looked bright. That is a very good counter attack. And after such a good run the Blues are behind. It is the sixth time that Chelsea have conceded the opening goal this season. You've got to say it's a really well-worked goal. Started on the right-hand side. Nice little bit of intricate football. And in the end, Chelsea opened up. Kukerea just stands off a little bit at the vital moment. Can he go and close a little bit quicker? Odeber gets out of his feet and steers it towards the far corner. Sanchez unsighted in essence. Caicedo now. Plenty of Blues shirts forward even though it's very congested in that box. First time Enzo Fernandes in towards Sterling. But that's better. Sterling aggressive on the far post making it difficult for Vitinho. I think it was to just about deal with the situation. Lovely ball. Vitinho's not actually initially in a great position. He's more looking at Sterling. Into Fernandes. Was that a foul? I think referee would have blown but there could be an advantage here. Sterling. Well done, Sterling. Couldn't squeeze it in from that angle. Yeah, it's really good. Gets it under control. Really direct. Straight away. That would have been a free kick there. Lovely change of play. Caicedo. And then they double up but it doesn't matter. Skips beyond the first challenge then beyond Vitinho. If that is angled back towards the far post a couple of yards more. It's a goal or it's a tap in. For Gallagher. Sterling. Confident. Oh, goal! Alderkeel. Deflecting it into his own net. And a lucky break for the Blues just before half-time. Made by the positive play of Raheem Sterling. Yeah, and you said it. It was such a stupid foul to give away round about the halfway line when Burnley would have had themselves a throw in. But huge credit, I think, once more to Raheem Sterling. So easy to play square there in this first half. Especially, latterly, he's been really direct driving at his opponent. That little bit of good play a few moments ago could have ended up in the goal. And this one, he gets the fortuitous deflection off Dakhil. Sterling. There's that run again. Oh, hello! Inside or out. Penalty! Silly challenge, Vitinho. And a chance for Chelsea to turn this round right either side of half-time. And it's Sterling in that same channel again making it happen. This must have been a clear directive, I think, maybe even before the game. Or just Sterling going, do you know what? I'm going to be incredibly direct. They're going to have to look at this because it's marginally... Oh, it's on the line, which we'll be in, will it? Right then. Palmer. For 2-1. Against Trafford. Nicely done! He beats his England Under-21 colleague. Welcome to Chelsea, Cole Palmer. His performances have demanded a starting berth. Only a few minutes of game time ago, Chelsea were behind, now Chelsea are in front and he has his first goal for his new club. Great moment. Yeah, he's done brilliantly last few games and that's wonderfully confidently dispatched into the corner. Sending Trafford the opposite direction. He's on a bear. First save of the game for Robert Sanchez and it looked like it needed saving. It was certainly headed for the crossbar at worst. He's running into a number of bodies here. I think he takes it quick. I think he's unsighted, the goalkeeper, and he's probably very fortunate that he's just above his head. Good challenge by Caicedo and options here for Gallagher. Raheem Sterling for 3-1. Can he finish? You bet he can! He's made two and he's scored the third. Daylight for Chelsea and this one's been the Raheem Sterling show again and a good job too. Burnley 1, Chelsea 3. Looking good for three wins in a row. That's just a player feeling at the top of his game, feeling confident, feeling great about things because that's not easy. It's a great chance. It's a nicely weighted pass from Connor Gallagher. I thought he should have gone right initially to Jackson. Would have had to have gone early otherwise he was running into an offside position. He'll win the ball back well. Gallagher's bright to the loose ball. He plays it. I think he's okay. Touch, touch. Perfect. And then that. You don't expect that on Raheem Sterling's weaker side. It's a really true strike across the goalkeeper. Side netting. Absolutely perfect. Palmer here to really wrap it up. Jackson. Nicely done. That will do. Just gets better and better for Nico Jackson and for Chelsea. They were behind for a while in this match The points are going back to London now. Absolutely no doubt about it. Smiles all round for those in blue. It's 4-1. I mean, it's an outstanding bit of individual skill at the end from Nicholas Jackson but it's all about Raheem Sterling again. Ball played into him down the side around about the halfway line. Levi Colwood, I think it was, with the initial pass and Raheem Sterling has no right to beat Daro Shea here. He just leans into him. It's experience. It's savvy. Strength. And this ball again. Paul Palmer could have possibly shot right-footed. Great awareness from him again. Unfortunately, so Shea back on the edge of his own six-yard box having been done initially by Sterling. He gets back protecting his goal or so he thinks. He's done by outstanding stuff from Nicholas Jackson. Still got the composure to whip it in with his left foot. Another brilliant goal. Shoot, they say. And Koleosio did. I don't know if he was slightly deceived by the flight or maybe slightly unsighted. Sanchez looked like he was already going down on one knee here. Charlie Taylor miles off. That'll do it. What a wonderful couple of weeks. Three wins running for the first time in a year. Raheem Sterling, the thread running right through this latest victory. Chelsea into the top half. One down early, Sam. But what a comeback. Yeah, incredibly encouraging. I think throughout the team now we're seeing a solid defensive unit. We're seeing that chemistry in the midfield. We know we're going to get that now. And now there seems to be a confidence in attack and options available. It'll be Arsenal and a whole host of top-level names to come after the latest international interruption. But the Blues go into it in the best way possible. Jackson with a goal off the bench on his return. Cole Palmer with his first Chelsea goal. Raheem Sterling with a goal and a couple of assists. Chelsea 4-1 winners at Turf Mall.
