Remove unwanted spots on the skin.
That's what this tutorial is about.
Have fun with the video.
In the image I chose for this project,
we have two noticeable spots on the face.
One on the forehead and one on the nose.
The image I'm working on is linked in the video description.
Let's see how to remove these spots.
We start by looking into the layers,
select our background image and press CTRL-J
to create a copy of it.
We want to use this copy to add our skin structure.
We'll need it later.
To do this, select the top layer,
go to Image, then to Corrections,
and select Reduce Saturation.
This will create a black-and-white image.
Now right-click on the black-and-white layer
and convert it into a smart object.
Then we can go to the filters,
select Other filters,
and select the High Pass filter.
We want to set the High Pass filter
so that the skin structure is visible.
If we go too high, the image will look weird.
If we go too low, the structure is not visible.
That's why we have to set the right value.
Depending on the image, a value of 8 is fine.
To make it look natural again,
we want to change the blend mode for the layer.
We open the blend mode and set it to Intersect.
Here we have Intersect,
and we get a natural look.
At the moment, this layer looks like a retouching.
You can see it here.
Our skin structure is inside.
We'll see how to use it later.
We don't want to retouch the image.
Our next step is to paint over the white areas.
We do it like this.
We go back to the layers,
select the background image,
and click on the plus sign to add a new layer.
This layer should be in the middle.
Before we paint over this layer,
we have to make sure,
that the skin structure only affects the areas,
where we want to paint over.
We move between these two layers,
hold down the ALT key,
and confirm the cut mask with the left mouse button.
Now our skin structure only affects the areas,
where we want to paint over.
We are in our empty layer,
and we use the brush tool on the left
to paint over the areas.
Let's zoom in on the forehead.
We have to adjust the brush.
We can make it soft on the top left.
We can adjust the brush size.
Alternatively, we can hold down the ALT key,
the right mouse button,
and move the mouse to the right or left,
to adjust the size.
We also need the right color tone.
We hold down the ALT key,
to switch to the pipette.
By holding down the left mouse button,
we can choose the right color tone,
to paint over the bright areas.
When we let go, the color is taken over.
We can see that in the color selector.
One last preparation step.
We don't want to work with full opacity,
so we can limit the opacity of this layer,
by reducing it to about 35-40%.
You can adjust this at any time.
Now we paint over the bright areas,
on the forehead.
This looks good.
Let's go down to the nose.
We want to make the brush smaller,
to be able to work more precisely.
I recommend to use a new color,
because the skin color looks different
in all areas of the face.
Now we paint over the areas,
with the color.
I use a new color,
to paint over the areas,
where I am working.
I use a new color,
to paint over the areas,
where I am working.
This is the result.
We will refine it,
but you can already see,
the difference.
We have one problem.
The re-coloring affects areas,
where it shouldn't affect.
For example,
the eyebrows.
We want to correct this.
We can do this,
by double-clicking on the layer.
We can do this,
by double-clicking on the layer.
We open the layer styles.
Under the blend options,
we have the blend if,
we can move the left slider,
to the right,
to exclude the dark areas.
You can see,
how the eyebrows
get back their original color.
We move the slider,
as high as we need it.
Like this.
We hold the ALT-button,
and move it to the right,
to separate it.
We move it to the right,
to separate it.
This should look good.
I confirm with OK.
We can see,
our result.
The result looks good.
We want to correct this,
by going back to the layers.
We want to correct this,
by going back to the layers.
We select the layer,
and press CTRL-J,
to duplicate it.
We select this layer.
We can increase the opacity,
by 80%.
We can correct this later.
Now it looks weird.
We want to make sure,
that only the pure color
will be visible.
That only the pure color
will be visible.
We can open the blend mode,
to this layer,
and change the blend mode to color.
We can find the color mode.
This will change the color of the
white layer.
This will change the color of the
white layer.
This will change the color of the
white layer.
You can play with the opacity,
if you want to set it to 100%,
or 50% or 60%.
This is our result.
We edited the glow areas,
by clicking on the ALT-button.
We will see all layers,
such as the original one
and the current picture.
We can clearly see a difference.
That is one way,
to remove unwanted glow areas.
As always, I hope that everything was explained in a reasonable way.
