Hi
Today we are discussing about resistors and their types
We can classify resistors into two different categories
Fixed resistors and Variable resistors
Fixed resistor means its value is fixed
That means its value can't be changed
It will be a fixed value
That is called resistance value
Variable resistor means its value can vary
Now let's see what are these two categories
Fixed resistors
We can classify fixed resistors mainly into four different categories
First one is wire wound resistor
Carbon composition resistor
Carbon film resistor
Metal film resistor
We can classify fixed resistors as
Wire wound, carbon composition, carbon film and metal film resistors
Now let's see each one in detail
First let's see wire wound resistor
It consists of a former made up of an insulating material such as ceramic or plastic
There is a former in the wire wound resistor
This former is made up of ceramic or plastic
The shape of the former is cylindrical or rectangular
On top of the insulating former, we wound a resistance wire
The resistance wire used is a necrom wire
The necrom wire of the required length is wound on top of the former
The reason for using this material is
It has higher thermal stability and tensile strength
That is why we select necrom wire for this material
We cover this material with an insulating material
The insulating material we use is nylon fiberglass etc.
External terminals are made up of copper
