Experiment: 10 Youngsters from a Pigeon Couple

I let my oldest pair of racing pigeons have 10 youngsters. This experiment shows you how extremely different the hybrid youngsters can be. It also shows you why raising only 1-2 rounds of youngsters from a pair doesn't mean you tested them well as breeders.

Being so old, I let this couple only raise 6 of the youngsters themselves. They made an extra set of eggs in late autumn. They were porous eggs not recommended to keep but I let them hatch under foster parents just to see the colors.

I am happy and surprised that the male still had all the 12 eggs fertile at the age of 16.
