M L Q ® 2023/2024
Sito, the abbey found.
It will start with an abandoned forge on a place called the Little Forge.
A deserted place by the local peasants, leaving room for the spirits of the tides.
We are then in 1098, near Dijon.
A handful of men, trying to tutor the sky, will begin a new adventure.
It will be Sito's future and prestigious abbey.
Let's enter the era of knowledge, with his books, his beliefs, and the discovery of the world.
At least that was the thought of the first monks of Sito.
The light through the books, the transmission of the words of God, will be done thanks to the Copist monks.
In a first time, grouped in a common room,
later replaced by Copist cells, only occupied by two monks.
These monks will be named the Cistercians.
They left us, among other things, an architectural mode in the foreground.
With riddles placed here and there.
Where the books were chained in small walled niches, called armaria.
Sito will have to impose himself against the power of Cluny.
But these two religious orders, claiming both of the rule of St. Benoît,
will be constantly in opposition.
But they will change the world.
The modest Sito of departure will be gratified by several cloisters.
In all, there will be five.
Today, there is almost nothing left of the Abbey of Sito.
The monastery was destroyed and plundered during the Revolution.
Several decades were necessary to create a great film, unique in the world, retracing the saga of Sito.
All the different eras of the Abbey will be addressed.
The successive evolutions of the monastery over the centuries
will be carefully evoked and commented on with the greatest scientific rigor.
The vocations of the great men who passed through Sito, such as Bernard de Clairvaux,
Louis IX with his mother, Blanche de Castille, Cardinal Richelieu,
and finally the abominable Tyrant, will be treated with care in this historical film.
The monks of Sito are builders, engineers, merchants, but above all conquerors.
But of course, it will be conquest at the same time.
With a general chapter, uniting once and for all,
all the abbots of the Cistercian Christian world.
A kind of European government, before the hour,
gathered in the huge building named for the circumstance, the Great Definatory.
The years pass and the centuries too, Sito finally shines.
A first abbey, discreet, will emerge, but very modest in the face of Cluny.
But very quickly, important work will be carried out for its transformation,
with an essential modification for the time, the Bernardin plan in terms of architecture.
A magnificent crypt under the abbey, will be the last residence of some dukes of Burgundy,
having chosen to reside in these places.
Sito is also the printing house with the happy meeting of the young Butinbert
and a lord evaded from the papacy of Damas, who will change the world.
The printing house will later be introduced in Burgundy, under the aegis of Abbe Jean de Ciret.
But of course, we must not forget alchemy, for the manufacture of a unique nectar, wine.
But Sito, it will also be his superb and rich luminaries,
elaborated thanks to the rigor of the copyists, working in their cells,
but only in the light of day.
And to finish this succinct description of our film,
I will tell you about the medicine of Sito,
which went through the creation of a gigantic hospital,
with the fervent era of the gifts, with his custom of the leg,
which will make the fortune of the abbey.
But it is towards the end of the 17th century, that the power of Sito will be at its peak.
The luxury will be won, and the last abbey of Sito,
François Trouvé, dreaming of a majestic Sito like Versailles,
will undertake extensive and extensive work.
Only the Le Noir building will see the light of day.
But the French Revolution is raging, and the days of the abbey are numbered.
However, friend of some revolutionaries, the abbey Trouvé having fled Sito,
by taking refuge in the abbey of La Bussière,
will still be caught up by the Sankulotes.
End of the game for the abbeys of Sito.
Only a few monks will still be able to escape
by borrowing a well-known underground from some historians.
However, it will take another century for a handful of trappers
from Canada to buy their own abbey.
But for now, let's take the opportunity, with the Montgolfier brothers,
to contemplate this monumental past.
