Hello everyone, welcome back to PoonPet. I'm Heizy.
On this YouTube channel, I'm going to share with you how I take care of my piggies
as well as my life in the US with my two piggies, Binggie and Belly.
As you can see on the title, last week was a very difficult week for me.
I had to take Binggie to the vet twice, and this was also the first time my piggies were sick.
That's why I was very worried.
Before I tell you what happened, I will provide some information for you to understand more about piggies
as well as the digestive disorders that most piggies have.
Its English name is GI stasis, which means a disease related to gas inhalation.
This is an X-ray image that shows that the black line in the piggy's belly is gas inhalation and gas inflation.
This is a very common disease in piggies, and it is known as a silent killer.
It can kill a piggy in 24 hours, and it's very hard to detect why a piggy dies.
However, if you can detect it in time, you can still treat it.
Its symptoms are that the piggy will eat slowly and can stop eating.
That's why the digestive system slows down and can't digest nutrients, which means it can't urinate.
And the movement of the digestive system in the belly causes the amount of gastric bacteria to increase very quickly,
causing gas, and when it touches the belly, it feels very hard and swollen.
That's why piggies feel very painful and don't want to eat.
That cycle will continue until the piggy can't eat, can't urinate, and has to die.
There are many reasons for the disease.
The first reason is due to diet and nutrition.
If people give piggies little nutrients, it will be very difficult to digest.
Or you give piggies food that can't be digested.
As I said in the previous video, I will link here so that people don't give piggies food like that anymore.
Or if you give piggies too much sugar, the harmful bacteria will be more than the beneficial bacteria in the belly.
And this imbalance is also a cause of the disease.
The second reason is that piggies are inactive and it is difficult to digest nutrients.
In addition, the lack of activity can also be the cause of stress and boredom in piggies.
That's why those of you who raise piggies in the cage,
we have to try at least 6 hours a day for the piggies to go out to exercise.
Especially for older piggies, we should give more active piggies to facilitate digestion and exchange nutrients.
Or when people buy piggies, they are usually very strange, afraid of the new environment.
So it often hides in a corner and doesn't eat.
That's why it also slows down eating and causes this disease.
In addition, there are many other reasons, from poor health,
such as kidney disease, obesity, or piggies' teeth hurt when chewing.
Piggies' skin can also be inflamed or cracked, causing piggies pain and not wanting to eat, not wanting to exercise.
Finally, there is another very rare cause, which is hair loss due to hair loss.
As I have already guided hair loss for piggies in previous videos,
you can refer to them to reduce the risk of hair loss.
We all know that piggies are very good at hiding diseases.
Only when we really observe and really understand it, can we discover this disease.
When I look at the observation camera, I see that piggies don't eat, but they just lie in this tray.
When you see piggies, they are not as active as usual, and they often go into places to hide everything.
Piggies have been in this tray for a long time, but they don't eat, and they can't go to the bathroom.
I tried to feed them bananas, but they didn't eat either. This is their favorite food.
It shows that there is a problem.
Because of those behaviors, piggies can have a very low temperature.
Piggies often lie on the floor to press the gas out of their bellies.
Moreover, piggies can have tooth decay due to pain.
Or when you pinch their bellies, you will see that their bellies are very hard.
If in 8 hours, the piggies can't eat anything, and you don't find out to take care of them in time,
it can be dangerous to death.
I don't know if the piggies are hungry or not.
But today I saw a lot of piggies.
I don't know if the piggies are hungry or not.
I still have to take the piggies to the hospital.
There is no doctor in this hospital.
So I have to call to go to a very far place.
It takes more than an hour to an hour and a half to get there.
I have to take the piggies to the hospital.
In this part, I started to examine myself to see why the piggies are like this.
The piggies don't eat grass.
The piggies eat grass.
But the piggies are not like that.
The piggies' health is not normal.
Now what happened to the piggies, I can't stand it.
In fact, the driving time of 1.5 hours is not long.
But for me, it's extremely long.
In my head, I can't think of anything but the fact that
the piggies are too young.
They are only 2.5 years old.
They can't have any problems.
And if something happens, it's definitely my fault.
After the doctors received the piggies,
the first thing they did was to check the teeth,
mouth, skin, and belly to see how it was.
After that, they took some photos to know how it was.
After a check-up, the doctor told me that there was no serious problem.
The doctors couldn't find any specific cause.
So the piggies only stayed for a while to pass the disease.
After that, I was prescribed painkillers
and brought the food powder back to feed the piggies every 6 hours.
When I got home, I tried my best to find out about this disease
and how to treat it effectively.
In the case that the piggies' intestines were clogged,
their bellies were swollen, and there was a lot of infection
that spread through the mouth,
you had to take the piggies to the emergency room immediately
so that the doctors could wash the intestines
and perform surgery to clean the intestines.
In my case, the piggies didn't have that problem.
And I found out quite early.
That's why the piggies were transferred.
During the pandemic, there were a lot of water, vitamins,
and minerals, plus painkillers.
If you can't go to the doctor to transfer the piggies,
you can use coconut water to transfer the water to the piggies.
Or you can just use normal water.
Or if you're in the US, you can buy this Appetite Restore powder
and mix it with water.
After that, let the piggies drink it.
It will stimulate the taste and make the piggies want to eat again.
A lot of people say to give the piggies coconut water
to increase the enzyme and increase the absorption of food.
But when the piggies have stopped eating,
giving them coconut water is too late.
It doesn't help at all, and it also causes constipation in the intestines.
The second thing we have to do is to give the piggies grass powder
to supplement the fiber,
as well as something in the stomach
to keep the digestion going.
If you can't buy grass powder,
you can grind the grass powder,
add water to it,
or you can soak the grass powder in water
and give it to the piggies.
We shouldn't give the piggies such a hard piece of grass.
This is the amount that I will give the piggies to drink in 6 hours.
But in my experience, the piggies won't eat it
or it will be crushed if we give it a lot like this.
And when the tube is so big,
it's also very difficult for the piggies to eat.
And I only give the piggies to eat and drink a little bit at a time.
Next, I will give the piggies painkillers
every 12 hours.
The piggies are 2.5 kg,
so they are designated to drink 0.8 cc
of painkillers called Meloxicam 15 Minigam.
And this painkiller works very quickly.
After the piggies drink this,
they immediately eat grass.
This painkiller is really good,
but if you can't find it,
you can buy a gas drop for the piggies.
This is quite safe
and it's very difficult to be overdosed.
We will give the piggies 1 cc after every 3 hours.
However, I am not a vet,
so if you want to use it,
you have to ask the doctor's opinion before using it.
The fourth thing we can do
is to keep the piggies warm.
When the temperature of the piggies is low,
you can put the piggies on the bed
and then massage the piggies to keep them warm.
Then we will massage the belly
from the chest to the tail.
If we massage gently like this,
the piggies will feel less pain.
Normally, the piggies don't want us to touch their bellies,
but that night I had to stay up late
to massage the belly for the piggies to rest.
The fifth thing is that we will give the piggies only grass
and encourage them to exercise a lot.
When the piggies are sick and can't drink water,
we should not give the piggies grass
because it is very hard and dry,
very difficult to digest.
We will give the piggies less vegetables
and gradually increase the amount
when the piggies are better.
If we give up all the vegetables,
we should not do that
because when the piggies are sick,
they need vitamins to help the digestive system
and the immune system.
So we will gradually increase the amount of vegetables
depending on the piggies' ability to recover.
In addition to encouraging the piggies to exercise more,
according to my experience,
I will change the position of the furniture in the house.
For example, changing the places of the sofas together,
pushing the furniture out in the middle of the house
so that it has many small slots
so that the piggies like to run back and forth.
And I think this is always effective.
This is a picture of Bingy
after one night when I gave her medicine,
I massaged her belly,
and she started eating grass
and she got very small seeds,
but it progressed.
And I would like to stop this video here
because it is too long.
And in the next video,
I will explain more
the reason why Bingy
doesn't eat grass anymore.
I will follow Bingy's health condition
in the coming days
and I will update you
in the next video.
Goodbye everyone
and see you in the next video.
Bye!
