The MOST common obstacle we hear from our viewers is about how to afford to live abroad.
If you're not retired or don't have a steady stream of passive income from investments, social security or a pension, moving abroad is going to be a challenge.
However, there are several different ways you can earn income both online AND offline that will allow you to live where you want, work when you want, and do what you want.
It can take some time to lay all the groundwork that will allow you to move abroad and enjoy a higher quality of life so the sooner you get started, the better!

So many of you are dreaming of moving to another country but you're not sure how
to finance it. Yeah a lot of you asked us can I get a
job abroad or what do we do to afford our life abroad.
It is possible to get a job abroad but that's not what we did and that
may not be the best option for you. So in this video we're going to share six
different ways that you can fund your life abroad.
But before we do we want to stop and give a huge thanks to all of you who
have subscribed and rang that bell over the last five years.
We hit 100,000 subscribers and we could have never done that without you so
thank you thank you thank you. Muchas gracias and if you're not a
subscriber yet hit that subscribe button now and ring the bell
because we talk about moving abroad so if that's your thing
we can help. And now let's talk about how you can earn enough money
to live your life abroad starting with taking your current job
and moving it 100% remote. Yeah if you already have a job where you work on a
computer pretty much all day long you might be
able to do that from anywhere. We know that some companies want people
back in the office but that is not true for all companies
so you should definitely ask your employer if it is an option for you to
work 100% remotely. That's what Amelia did. My company
already had remote workers so it was an easier ask for me to go to my employer
and say hey I need to change locations and work 100%
remotely and as I suspected they didn't have any
issue with that because I had been able started to slowly transition a lot more
of my job responsibilities to online and now I can do that job
anywhere in the world. If you're in the right line of work and
you work for the right type of company it
might actually be possible to convert your job to 100%
remote but it could take months or a year or even more so
you need to give yourself a lot of time and also give your company
time to get used to the concept of you not coming into the office all the time
and don't even spring it on them yet that you
are planning on moving abroad just say yeah I need to be
at home more and I feel like I'm more productive at home.
Yes poco a poco. Your next option is to get a new
remote working job. If your current job will not let you go remote then
look for a new one. There are a lot of companies out there that are still
hiring 100% remote and they don't care where you're located.
Yeah despite all the media propaganda about how these companies are requiring
their employees to go back to the office it's
just not the case for all of them and there are
companies out there that are hiring these people. You can find
these types of jobs on websites like flexjobs or remote.co
or nodesk there's a whole bunch of other job sites that are completely dedicated
to 100% remote working jobs. Traditional
websites like careerbuilder and monster.com also have remote
working sections so you should definitely check those out too
and digital nomads they swear by this approach they like to have that
steady stable paycheck but flexibility to live wherever they choose.
It can take quite a bit of time to find a new 100%
remote working job at a new company so you're going to want to give yourself
plenty of time for that. You're going to have to probably submit
like a hundred resumes and applications and you're just going to have to keep
plowing away because those jobs are out there but there is
pretty steep competition for them now too. Now let's talk about getting a job
abroad. If you're in the right line of work you
could get a job in another country and they may even sponsor your work visa
which would be pretty awesome. Yeah there are a lot of countries that
have work visas available. The common requirement though is that you speak the
local language so you might want to look for english
speaking countries or start studying right now. You might
also need an advanced degree or a really specialized skill because it
you know if they're going to sponsor your work visa they're going to want to
make sure and get a lot of value out of you for that.
Yeah we get people asking us about more manual labor type jobs like construction
work or coming and being a server in a restaurant
and those jobs you can get those jobs in some countries as they're definitely not
as easy here in Ecuador but they pay a lot less in wages so you
may not find it that it would provide enough money for
you to live comfortably. Even nurses here in Ecuador end up
getting paid kind of minimum wage they don't get paid
more than about ten dollars an hour so it is not the same
depending upon the country in which you're considering. Yeah if you want to
come in and do construction or be a bartender it's just not going to
pay enough to help you live the kind of quality of
life that you could if you had income from a foreign country and you're
using that geographic arbitrage to earn money from a high income country
and spend it in a low cost of living country that's where the real sweet spot
is and gives you a much higher quality of life.
We often hear from people who've left the U.S. to work in
places in Europe or in other parts of the world and they
love it they have a much higher quality of life
they don't have to worry about health care they get lots of vacation and a lot
of other extras. You might have to pay higher taxes and
you might even earn lower wages but you end up with a better work-life
balance and a higher quality of life and a lot of people really
appreciate that. Your next option is to start a business abroad and we know
quite a few people who have done that. If you have an entrepreneurial mindset
then this is a great option for you. Yeah especially if you have some sort of
special skill set or ability or education that another country might
benefit from it might be even easier than you expect to
come and start your own business. I know it's extremely easy here in Ecuador and
we have a lot of friends who have done it.
We know people who have come here and become real estate agents,
rental agents, property managers, tour guides, they create specialty food
businesses and the sky is the limit there's all sorts of things you could do
if there's a demand. And some of the things that we take for
granted back in the U.S. they don't have here yet and the locals
really want that stuff when when foreigners come here and open up
businesses the locals really like that especially if they've never had it
before but they know it exists so there is a lot of opportunity for
that like a full service day spa for example we just have not seen that here
in Ecuador. We've seen like little kind of spas
where you can go get a massage and a manicure but
not like where we're used to back in the U.S. that's just one example there's a
whole bunch of them you come here you pay attention you might actually spot a
real opportunity. And you have some really good visa
incentives from other countries who will give you special benefits and bonuses if
you come and open a business in their country and employ locals so it's a good
win-win. Our favorite approach to finance your life abroad is to start a
wi-fi business. Working for yourself online as either a
freelancer or an entrepreneur starting your own online business is really a
great way to get started because you can start
right now before you quit your job even before you leave home and lay the
groundwork and be ready when you are ready to leave.
Exactly you could start by creating your side hustles and try a couple different
things and see what works for you. Start before you change anything else so
that you could really start to build up your income and have more consistency
and then you'll be ready to go. Yeah there's a saying that you use your nine
to five to fund your five to nine and your weekends and that you might
have to work a little bit more to start but
the payoff down the road is going to be great when you're only working a few
hours a day and living in some other amazing destination and
really living your true unconventional life.
Plus there's a lot of countries out there where the cost of living is lower
so you don't have to earn as much money. You want to make sure you have enough to
live comfortably but you don't maybe have to make as much money as your
regular full-time job that you currently have back in your home country.
Yeah you're not going to have all the expenses like a big mortgage and
multiple car payments and massive health insurance bills.
The cost of living abroad you can easily live in a lot of different
countries for under two thousand even under fifteen hundred dollars a month
and we're talking a nice quality of life.
Not like what you would expect like in the U.S. if you're making fifteen hundred
a month you're pretty much looking at being homeless
but in other countries it's a hike that will find a high quality of life.
When we first moved to Ecuador JP still had his web design business so we
I had my salary and JP's web design and that really helped us get started
while we transitioned into YouTube. Yeah I had to also did managed web hosting so
I had recurring monthly payments which is
really what you're looking for if you're working for yourself you want that
recurring revenue so I had like 15 clients or so who paid
a monthly fee for me to manage their websites that was great.
Now our YouTube business and our blog are what
pretty much pays our cost of living that is where the majority of our income
comes from because Amelia now only works a few hours
per week she's part-time now. Keep your goals realistic it will take time to get
to the point where you have a nice consistent income before you decide to
take that leap and move abroad but it may take less time than you think.
If earning wi-fi income appeals to you but you're not quite sure
where to get started then you might want to check out our online income e-course.
We go into a lot more detail about how we're able to pay for our live abroad
lifestyle then we cover a lot of different ways that you can earn wi-fi
income regardless of your skill set so you can pull the plug and live where you
want work when you want and do what you want.
It is not a get rich quick scheme it will take some work but the sooner you
get started the sooner you're going to be able to join the millions of other
people who are already doing it. Check below for a link or scan this QR
code right here and use coupon code AHAP20 to save 20%
on the order page. Some of you might have another option to fund your
live abroad lifestyle and that is with your retirement pension income or
just passive income. If you're already retired or you have a lot of passive
income then this is a great option there are a lot of places that offer
retirement visas and you can live a really nice quality
lifestyle on less. Yeah some of these don't even require
you to be retired you just need passive income from things like rentals or
investments or dividends any sort of kind of income that you don't
have to actively work for. If you are retired and have a pension or
social security with at least a thousand dollars a month
you have so many options. Yeah even if you don't have a thousand dollars per
month from your pension or retirement you still have a few options like
Bolivia, Bulgaria, Colombia might even work for you and there are other
countries that you can work around kind of their visa requirements and
you can live in a lot of different places even on less than a thousand a
month. Some of these countries will not allow
you to work either online or offline so make sure you check all their rules
before you move there. If your biggest obstacle to living abroad
is how you're going to finance it you are not alone it is literally the
most common challenge that we hear from our viewers.
However there are several ways that you can earn income
online and give yourself that freedom of location.
It could take a few months or even a year or longer to lay all of this
groundwork to make this possible but there are millions of people already
doing it including us so we absolutely know it is possible. Yes you
can do it just get started as soon as possible because it does take some time.
Check out this video next for seven easy side hustles as a good place to get
started. And let us know in the comments which
option you like the best or what is stopping you from doing it or
