WEATHER ALERT: Scattered showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m.

This is a 22 news storm team weather alert. Good Friday afternoon. We got clouded skies out there over the lower portion of the valley around Springfield, Westfield, even chickpea, seeing a little bit of some thin cloud cover at the moment. But we do have the 20 news storm team weather alert in effect because we are expecting that chance for some scattered showers and even the chance for some thunderstorms later this afternoon into the evening. Some could be strong and severe. But right now, Greenfield blue sky out there. Sun is out and we are definitely gonna be seeing these temperatures warm up and also the humidity climb as well. So right now we're already into the eighties for many of us, 80 in South Hampton, 82 in Southwick, 83 the temperature in Deerfield right now. And again, these dew points are getting into the seventies and we're gonna be seeing these temperatures alone staying into the eighties towards the day. I think the mid, even the upper eighties can't be ruled out and they will slowly fall back into the seventies and into the sixties as we go into the overnight tonight. Either way again, that sun cloud mix out there right now will transition over to those afternoon and evening thunderstorms. That is the top of the 20 news storm team forecast. Focus scattered showers and storms continue as we go into the weekend, not a washout by any means, but there will be this hit or miss showers as we go, especially for saturday afternoon into the day on sunday and then we finally cool down as we go into next week. Temperatures returning to where we should be this time of year in the seventies. Hurricane Lee looking very healthy, still on radar, very, very small eye right now. So we got a lot of circulation, a lot of rapid intensification still ongoing with this storm. We did see it downgrade just a little bit, not by much, but we're still a very powerful major hurricane. It's expected to continue to stay around a category four borderline category five as we go into this evening by the eight p.m. Advisory here, National Hurricane Center around 155 MPH storm and this will likely stay around a category four as we go all the way down through Wednesday of next week. And then you can see how it slowly starts to make that turn here and we'll have to keep an eye on it as we go into next week as it moves its way up to the north. But for us here this afternoon, it's quiet right now. We do have that chance for some thunderstorms later today. Not to already see a few thunderstorms popping up in Connecticut right now and we're likely to see that develop across western Massachusetts as we go through later today. 23 storm team sky cast here one o'clock again. Any sun out there will be starting to fill in with cloud cover after two p.m. Five o'clock. You can see all these thunderstorms and showers and downpours starting to fill in and again, some of these could produce some heavy rainfall, gusty winds, even the chance for a little bit of small hail can't be ruled out. And then as we go through tonight will turn very scattered with the showers and that continues as we go through much of the weekend.
