Hey there, I'm Chef Ani and today we are making something extra, extra special. We are making
phenomenal breakfast sausage patties that are plant-based. These are so good. A while back we
made vegan sausages on this channel and it is currently my most viewed video on my YouTube
channel. So I thought why not make some more sausages but this time we're making breakfast
sausage patties and guess what? They just happen to be gluten-free which is perfect for all of my
gluten-free friends out there. So enough talking, let's get cooking. So we're going to get started
by chopping up an onion and sauteing it for a few minutes. In the meantime we're just going to peel
and mince some garlic and we want to add a ton of flavor into these sausages so we're going in with
some crushed red pepper, fennel seeds, that's going to add so much flavor, some sage. We just want to
cook this for a minute or two and then we want to add in the water and bring it to a boil. Now while
we wait for this to come to a boil I'm going to chop up some walnuts. These are optional though
so if you want a nut-free recipe just leave them out. We're going to add some more seasoning to
this. I have some nutritional yeast flakes, some Bragg's liquid amino, but if you don't like Bragg's
you can use soy sauce, and a little salt. And I like to add a little better than bouillon, it adds a
lot to this recipe. And I like to add some molasses, this helps with the color, it adds to the flavor,
it gives this richness and a tiny bit sweet flavor to it. I love it. Now that our mixture is boiling
we're going to turn off the heat and add some textured vegetable protein. This is fun to do.
And then you want to stir it and we're going to add oats. Oats are so good to start your morning
off with and because these are breakfast patties why not start the day off right with some extra
oats. And then these walnuts that we chopped up so beautifully. Now we simply let this sit while
it soaks up all that liquid and flavor. Now our mixture has been sitting for a little while and
as you can see it is quite a bit thicker, like stiffer in consistency, which is fantastic. That's
just what we want. So I have a little measuring cup here which we have oiled. This is simple and
easy to do and kind of fun. These are gonna taste so good. You getting excited over there mama? Oh yeah.
So I've oiled the back of a spatula. I'm just going to kind of form these into a good shape here.
Now we're going to pop these in the oven to bake. About halfway through their bake time flip them
and let them cook on the other side. Once our breakfast sausages have come out of the oven
we are going to just sear them in a pan with a little bit of a special glaze. The recipe is on
my website. This will just make them beautifully golden brown but this is completely optional.
They're good just the way they are too. And as these cool the consistency will change. I love to
pop them in the freezer when they're in this baked stage so once they come out of the oven you just
let them cool and then put them in a freezer bag and then freeze them when you want to eat them.
I just seared them in a pan just to heat them up and they are ready to go when you are.
