Did you see Reggie Wayne's tweet?
And you too, AJ.
You were a part of this whole thing.
He said, sometimes I wonder how I even thought
about playing football back in the day.
Cause they were running highlights.
Basically it was the entire,
you got jacked up video
that they used to run every single week.
Just all the highlights from those compiled into one video.
And I think an entire generation of NFL fans
were either reminded or informed of
that that is what the game that we're currently watching
has been built upon.
That is what brought ratings.
That was instant replay.
That was the slow motions.
That was the highlight of games
when people got smoked every single week.
And now the game is much different.
We got to remember that, AJ.
But still, you were one of the guys
trying to do that to people.
You guys were psychos back in the day, bro.
Look at some of these hits.
This is the problem though.
Like if a hit like this happens,
you see how these guys are exploding
through these ball carriers.
We can fast forward.
Oh boy.
If you do this now,
the problem is because like everything has changed so much,
people think you should be put in jail.
People think like you should be on trial for murder
if this happens now.
AJ, answer the question though.
Like you signed up to do this.
This is what you wanted to do.
Like Reggie Wayne brings up a good point.
Like you guys were actual psychos back in the day, bro.
Like signing up for that.
Those are huge impact.
Car crashes happening on a regular basis.
And you guys signed up for it.
You need to respect your grit and your toughness, AJ,
for signing up to do that.
Honestly.
That's why I play defense.
I think that's a big reason why I love defense.
And I grew up playing running back and everything as well.
But on defense, it's your job to go hit them.
Yes, you're obviously there's a bunch of,
you know, you can get crack blocking,
you can do all that stuff.
Back in the day too.
Like I remember playing the Steelers,
Heinz Ward cracking me a few times.
Like receivers would come after you.
They're trying to ear hole you.
And you're not thinking, hey, it's a cheap shot.
Like that's just football.
But yeah, it's not that long ago
when you think about it too.
Ty, you remember that AJ played that highlight way
literally since high school because he,
remember he ended Kirk Herbstreet's football career.
That's right.
Put his helmet right through Kirk's jaw.
I think Kirk was what,
eating out of a straw for like six months afterwards
or something.
First off, Kirk was a grown man.
He was like a 30 year old grown man.
I was a 14 year old boy
and we had an alumni game, a scrimmage.
You're a sweet boy.
You were just a boy.
You're not a sweet boy.
You were a boy.
You were definitely a boy.
But I think in that moment, you were an absolute killer.
Just like what Gannon's looking for in Arizona.
You put your jaw through college game day guy's face.
And he said,
I'm never playing football ever again.
AJ, so is that how you remember it?
Is that how you remember that whole thing?
I do not remember the same way.
I think Kirk and his buddies,
those old grizzled vets came back.
They planted me in the ground multiple times.
I was just trying to-
No, no.
Kirk told us, you said eat ---- old man right after
and you were flexing over his lifeless body.
Can you imagine if we got in a fight
but the current high school team fought the alumni team,
a bunch of old guys that came back
and most of them were hung over
because it's the first time
they've been together in a while
the night before they hung out
and they come scrimmage us in full pads.
If we just got in a full brawl with them.
Yeah.
Imagine if that was today.
Passing the torch actually probably would.
That'd be cool.
Imagine if that happened today.
Just the thought of what you said.
Hey, there's 30 year olds wearing pads
playing against 14 year olds.
Just say that.
Stop right there.
Okay.
Then let's add onto there.
Oh, they get into a full brawl.
Okay.
Why?
Well, because the face of college football
got his jaw broken by a 14 year old.
Okay.
Just think about all those.
What could have been.
And you know what the problem was?
Nobody was filming it.
There's no, there's no footage of it.
Even the coaches.
They didn't want that stuff on film.
That's national news.
That is what places are leading with in the morning.
If that is something that would happen.
Think about us.
Yeah.
Think about us.
That happening in Ohio too.
Oh my God.
We would have won bananas about that entire thing.
