Italy is wonderful

Good morning. Welcome back. My name is Andrew and today I am in beautiful Naples, Italy. Now if you
know anything about Naples, this is the home, the originator, the birthplace of one of my favorite
foods in the whole world and that is pizza. So today we're going to answer that question of
Who does it better? New York City or Italia? So stay tuned. See you there.
Let's just stop right here for a second. For the purposes of this video, I will choose my top
two pizzas to represent each country and then I will grade them on a scale of one to ten based
on three things. Taste, crust, and presentation. Let's go. So first up, representing Naples,
which is supposedly the best pizza in the world.
I mean people literally line up out the door before they open at 11 a.m.
Luckily, I didn't have to wait too long because we did takeaway and I must say it was delicious.
We got the classic margherita and I honestly didn't think I'd like it that much since I'm
from New York and pizza is my pride and joy but I gotta say the flavor was amazing. What a
difference in the quality of the ingredients. That tomato sauce, oh my god, it was so fresh and so
good. They won so many awards over the years and they were voted as one of the best pizzas in the
world but would I go back and wait on that line again for this pizza? Probably not. In my opinion,
it was a pretty good experience tasting that beautiful tomato sauce and excellent cheese
but overall it was a little messy and floppy for my liking and so for those reasons I give
an overall 8 out of 10.
Next up for our second pizza, repping the famous Neapolitan pizza again,
we have Gino e Toto Sorbillo. They've also been open for a really long time, hailed as one of the
best pizzas in the world and served many celebrities like Joe and Lydia Bastianich.
Nice. The lines can get ridiculously long as you can see here so you definitely want to prepare
for a bit of a wait but an extra sweet bonus is that you may just get a chance to see the
owner himself, Mr. Gino Sorbillo, who just so happened to make an appearance for us which was
pretty damn cool. To be very honest, I had zero expectations going into this and I already had
many different thoughts and opinions put into my head prior to this trip to Naples from all the
countless blogs, reviews, and videos from all over social media and I have to say this was probably
my favorite pizza in Italy. It was freaking amazing. I mean my god, I had to really muzzle
my inner New Yorker that wanted to find every reason to bash on this style of pizza but no,
it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on. This was an easy 10 out of 10 for me.
So, Gino Sorbillo, I love you, man.
Next up, we in New York City, baby, where these streets will make you feel brand new.
Big lights will inspire you. Sorry. Now, I may be a little biased here since I'm a New Yorker
but we definitely have one of the best pizzas in the whole damn world. That is without question.
Pizza is seriously a way of life here. As you know, most New Yorkers, including myself,
take great pride and joy in their pizza. So, without further ado, first up representing
New York City is none other than the famous Joe's Pizza which in my opinion is arguably the best
slice in the whole world. It is the most classic and quintessential New York City slice that you
can possibly find. Ask any New Yorker and 9 times out of 10, they will tell you Joe's is their
favorite classic slice. You can't get much better than this. I mean, they've been open since 1975
and really their quality is consistent in every location that I've been to so far.
Furthermore, for all my Italian brethren out there, yes, Mr. Joe, the owner himself,
as well as all the other classic New York pizza shops out there are from Naples. So, don't hate,
appreciate. Joe's Pizza, I give you guys a perfect 10 out of 10 for taste. My favorite
quintessential New York slice. A huge shout out to Lucia's who I give a close second.
Alright, next up for our second pizza representing New York City, we have one of my favorite spots
for almost two decades now and they've been serving up one of the best Sicilian slices in
all of New York for over 80 years since they've opened in 1939. It's the one and only iconic
LMV Spumoni Gardens. Now, they showed up on almost every list you could possibly find as one of the
best pizzas in all of New York for God knows how long. And to be able to do it this long,
you know they're doing something right for sure. I love their perfectly golden and crispy crust,
as well as their beautiful pillowy moist interior of the dough.
And they put a nice amount of delicious tomato sauce with a nice layer of cheese
and a little more cheese and herbs on top to form this killer Sicilian slice.
This is pure joy, pure happiness for me. I give LMV Spumoni Gardens a 10 out of 10.
This or Prince Street? LMV. Which brings us back to the ultimate question.
Which pizza is better, New York City or Italy? Well, it depends on who you're asking.
Wherever you go, anyone you ask, they'll tell you that these two types of pizzas
are two different, yet absolutely delicious pizzas that top every list for the world's best
pizza. You gotta give credit where credit's due. I mean, come on. Pizza originated in Italy,
so you can't look down on their Neapolitan pizzas. It's freaking good, trust me. But if you ask me?
New York, baby.
