The largest surviving Renaissance kitchens in Europe occupy nearly a third of the ground floor of Hampton Court Palace, totaling 36,000 square feet. They have become internationally famous as the home of Tudor cuisine.
A team of culinary historians were given the challenge of finding out how kitchens worked and how they were used as they were 500 years ago to serve King Henry VIII and his court. They researched recipes, filling the kitchen with repurposed dishes, utensils, tools and utensils. Then they prepare the food, reviving nearly 500-year-old kitchens.
