
Caribbean Garlic Shrimp!! Unseen Garifuna food in Central America!
GUATEMALA - After an amazing Guatemalan street food tour of Guatemala City, we woke up at 4am the next day to beat the traffic heading towards Guatemala's Caribbean Coast!
Breakfast - Along the way, we stopped for some delicious Guatemalan breakfasts, including a classic plate with eggs and tomatoes, fresh tortillas, and beans. They also make delicious empanadas, stuffed with cheese, beans and chicharon.
Livingston - We travel to Livingston, the Caribbean Coast and home of the Garifuna people. We first started with a boat trip up the river to Livingston. We stopped at Cayo Quemado to make raw fish with coconut milk. We then ate at a restaurant called Buga Mama, where they support the community through their restaurant. Chef Sanchez has prepared a number of local Mayan and Garifuna dishes.
