Did you know that gold-loaded ships have already appeared in the endless sand seas of the desert?
That here, next to billions of animal mummies, the gateway to the looming hell may even be lurking?
Do you want to know what other breathtaking things appeared in the desert?

The Gold Ship
Seven years ago, some miners made a remarkably unusual discovery.
They came across the wreck of a Portuguese ship that had been abandoned for 500 years.
And that, mind you, in the middle of the Namibian desert.
But that wasn't enough.
In addition, a gigantic treasure was lurking in the belly of the ship.
After the excavators of the diamond company De Beers had unloaded the wreck,
the archaeologists confirmed that we are dealing with the Bom Jesus.
It had set sail in Lisbon in 1533 and had disappeared on its way to India a little later with its crew.
Discovered again in a dry lagoon, the excavations also found navigation devices and bones next to the gold.
But religious artefacts and pieces of clothing had also slumbered under the hot desert sand during the past centuries.
For the experts, those accompanying objects are of particular interest.
They give us a fascinating insight into an important historical epoch.
While the Portuguese sailors stood at the threshold of the discovery of the known world at that time,
little is known about everyday life at that time.
And what led to the demise of the Bom Jesus can no longer be said for sure today.
The experts suspect that the ship fell victim to a combination of excessive cargo and bad weather.
It remains to be seen that the ancient gold coins still contain a pretty symbol today.
Its value is now estimated at a total of 10.5 million euros.
Monolith of Utah
It is November 18, 2020, when a strange metal stele appears in the desert of Utah.
Although this is actually not quite right.
An evaluation of satellite images showed that the object had been eroding the landscape at least since 2016.
Made of precisely cut, seemingly rust-free steel, the Monolith of Utah fired the most spectacular theories at once.
Are we dealing with a secret message here?
Was the stele possibly set up by extraterrestrial beings?
In the days after the discovery, the attraction of the visitors was limitless.
Much to the dismay of the authorities.
But ten days later, the spook had come to an end.
The stele was removed from some private people.
Officially to stop the onslaught of spectators and to protect the area from damage.
8 million dog mummies
The fact that the ancient Egyptians had an extraordinary passion for animal worship is well known.
A breathtaking sensational discovery, which was recorded in Saqqara a few years ago,
however, shows what unimaginable dimensions the cult really took back then.
So the researchers discovered 8 million mummified wolves and adult dogs in the catacombs next to a holy Anubis temple.
While the temple complex was built in honor of the jackal-headed god of death,
the experts found mummified remains of other animals in other catacombs.
In addition to falcons and ibises, there were also pavilions and bulls.
Many of the mummies, however, have fallen apart over the centuries or have been stolen by grave robbers.
Some of the remains of the dead were even used as fertilizer.
While the catacombs were probably built in the 4th century BC,
the experts found something in the ceiling that they would never have expected.
The fossil of a 48 million-year-old sea turtle.
It is very likely to be a ancestor of today's sea cows.
Whether the ancient Egyptians then took notes from the stone bones is uncertain.
The Gate to Hell
Who doesn't know it?
You just want to dig for earth gas and accidentally bump into the Gate to Hell.
Okay, admittedly, that the uncontrolled burning crater in the desert of Karakum really leads to the spiritual Satan
is probably more of an urban legend than a scientific discovery.
It is unclear, however, what caused the 70-meter-wide and 30-meter-deep structure to have been standing in flames for an estimated 50 years.
As already briefly mentioned, the most common theory is based on a failed test drilling from the early 70s.
Accordingly, the workers then came across an underground cave that collapsed during a drilling and left a creaking crater behind.
Since the concern in the room was that poisonous gas could emerge, the responsible people decided to ignite the drilling hole.
But contrary to the original assumption, the flames did not extinguish after a few days, but were still buzzing happily to this day.
But since the Soviets are known to be meticulous about turning all faults under the table, there are no records of the incident.
Alternatively, the assumption is that we are dealing with a natural phenomenon here, which could have been caused by a lightning strike.
However, at the beginning of 2022, the Turkmen president Berdimuhamedov announced that the flames should be extinguished in time for the benefit of the environment and the health of the surrounding population.
But until then, a little patience is needed. The responsible people are currently looking for experts who can handle this task.
Sand cases
We all know water cases. But have you ever heard of sand cases?
A few years ago, a clip appeared on the net that showed us something incredible.
Instead of thawing water masses, we see huge amounts of sand plunging into the depths.
But how is that even possible? Are we dealing with a previously unknown natural phenomenon here, or can the show be explained with conventional means?
So much in advance. The recordings are actually real.
In the vicinity of the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, the sand cases are actually the result of heavy rainfall.
While there are not many permanent rivers in Saudi Arabia, the country has a large number of so-called wadis, i.e. dried-out river beds that can be flooded after strong downpours.
The corresponding videos show us a real waterfall that has formed after a flood and tears huge amounts of sand with it.
Desert glass
When Howard Carter opened the legendary grave of Tutankhamun, he also found a chest armor with jewels in it.
In the vicinity of the so-called pectoral, there was a sacred scarabeus, which consisted of green glass.
The ancient Egyptians probably had no idea how that glass was made, but today we are smarter.
In fact, we are dealing with a material that literally does not come from this world.
About 29 million years ago, a meteorite with such a lot of energy on Earth that it transformed a gigantic area of the Lybian desert into a tender green glass landscape.
While the crater that the impact hit in the ground still has not been discovered, Tutankhamun has another artifact with extraterrestrial roots.
A dagger whose iron also came from a meteorite.
E.T.
On April 26, 2014, the world finally had certainty.
Yes, E.T. was actually found in the desert of New Mexico in the early 80s.
However, it was not an alien made of flesh and blood, but countless copies of unsold video games.
After Atari had released the adventure game E.T. the Extraterrestrial in December 1982, the long-awaited cashier turned out to be an absolute shopkeeper.
This was primarily due to the fact that the game, which had collapsed under immense time pressure, is still on the list of the worst games of all time.
After the sales debacle was perfect, Atari had the excess goods clandestinely removed from a depot near the city of Alamogordo.
And although the rumors about the buried modules have been circulating for several decades, it should take until 2014 before the Urban Legend became a reality.
The Lost River
The Sahara did not always have the dust-dry glen that it presents to us today.
Scientific studies have shown that the desert flourished several times in the past 200,000 years, each over several thousand years.
While the last dry phase of the Sahara only began between the years 4000 and 3500 B.C.,
researchers have found that there once was one of the largest water intake areas on Earth.
This is how the experts in Mauritania identified an undersea canyon off the coast, which emerged as the work of a huge river.
After the former existence of the water was confirmed by satellite images, the Lost River was named Taman Razet.
Experts suspect that the gigantic stream had a great influence on the early settlers in the region.
Its drying-out may even have initiated a huge migration of peoples.
Desert whales
Given the fact that the Sahara is one of the driest regions on Earth today, the following discovery seems almost unbelievable.
And yet, in northern Egypt, the Wadi Al-Hitan actually houses countless whale skeletons.
This is due, of course, to the fact that about 40 million years ago the Tethys Sea swam here.
But over time, tectonic forces raised the area, causing the ocean to recede further and further.
Embedded in sediments, the mortal remains of the sea dwellers were perfectly preserved for posterity.
In detail, we have to deal with the bones of Archeoceti, an early, long extinct subordination of the whales.
In addition to 250 whale fossils, heath teeth, corals, shells and petrified mangrove roots could also be discovered here.
While the excavation site for the researchers opens a unique window into the world of life of the past, it did not take the car drivers with the historical significance quite so closely.
Since many valuable fossils have already been destroyed and destroyed, the Valley of the Whales is now closed to cars.
