Hey guys, welcome to another episode from Stacey here. We grow again. It's a beautiful morning
outside and today is the day I am going to be planting out my succulent that we took the cutting
from. So we're going to go over how to plant it up. You're probably wondering after you cut that,
after it stretches out, we cut it because we don't like stretched succulents. You can see
we did this to my Black Knight and I'm actually going to go ahead and do the same thing we did
to this Ghostie here in my hand with this Black Knight because these Black Knights like to stretch
a little bit when they don't get enough sun. So this little Ghostie, Graptopetalum parakesi,
we are going to plant today. It's been sitting on the counter for about a good four or five days
in indirect sunlight inside and about four hours of sun a day. So it gets a good amount of sun
still because these still grow. After you take a cutting for your succulents, they will still be
growing. They don't stop growing. So that's pretty neat and you want to make sure that you just don't
cut the sun out totally because this little guy was already in six hours of sun. So we cut them,
we put them back in the window inside and for basically indirect sun to bright sun. I don't
like putting direct direct sunlight on these fresh fresh cuttings at least for a few days and they'll
be fine. You can see they don't stretch. They do just fine and what you want to do is make sure
that end collapses all the way. So it's been a good good three four days and I know that that is
suffice enough for me and we're not open. We don't have open wounds. You can see it's nice and scabbed
over and you could even wait till this scabs a little bit more. You want no fresh skin showing.
Then you're going to take a little pot. You want to start these little guys out
in a tiny little pot first because they will just be lost in a big pot you know in something this
big. So you want to keep them in just a tiny little pot. Good succulent soil. All your succulents that
you're growing they should be in a good cactus succulent mix. I use Miracle-Gro succulent soil
with my Coco Loco potting mix. I have a video on the way I mix that soil up for you guys if you
need any help and we're just going to leave this in here now. Now that we have it planted
just want to like tap tap the sides down just a tad bit. Make sure it's snuggled in and these are
going to be a little floppy for at least until it roots. I mean for a good few days they're going to
be flopping around in here a little bit which is fine. They're loose because they don't have a
sturdy root system on them. So we're going to wait a week to water. We're still not going to water.
That's why we water beforehand before we take this cutting. So these can survive without water for
you know a good few weeks before they root. This was a cutting we just took a few weeks ago so
that's a little update for you on this one right here that we took. This one's growing like crazy
my trailing succulent. So I wanted to take a cutting and then one fell off so look we did the
same thing for this one. It's rooted and the way you can tell your succulent is rooted. So in a few
weeks we're going to leave this right here. We're going to give it since it was in four hours of sun
we're going to leave it here and we're going to give it the eight hours of full sun a day but I'm
only going to increase this two hours today and then another two tomorrow. So six hours of sun
today from the four hours inside and then tomorrow we'll be at the full eight and then the next day I
know that these succulents are going to be good to go and they're acclimated right this little guy
because you don't want to just go throw them in no sun to direct sun for eight hours. It's just
going to kill them and just make them turn really really dark in color and die eventually. But this
one you can see be rooted and the way I tell it's rooted is just give it a tug. Just pull it up
gently really gently you can tug on your plant up and now I can pick up this whole plant see
you know that that is a huge root. So I'm going to transplant this and that's why I kind of wanted
to tug that out but you never want to tug your plants totally out of soil like that because it
can damage the roots. But um that's how you can tell you have roots on it just give it a little
tug if you feel like there's a little tension on it like these you know there's tension it's picking
up the pot when I move it you know there's roots and you can give it a little water. Now I only
squirt these to begin with especially like my little babies like these and the propagated ones
to begin with because what's going to happen is you know these don't have any much of roots on
them yet and these only have a little bit of roots so if you go ahead and douse this whole
entire thing and let it sit in that water for a week or so it can definitely rot out the cutting
or your propagations. So these little guys are terrible looking they hardly have a root system
on them and that's why they're in here they're all the same way these little babies rotted out
with the roots they turned brown because succulents love a lot of water at once but
they don't like a lot of waterings frequent watering so that means you know water completely
down to the bottom soak your pot all the way through when you have a nice established root
system on here which is going to be in about three weeks or so then you can start soaking it all the
way through and then this way your roots are searching down to the bottom let this soil stay
dry for a good three four days between the waterings a week between the watering especially
in the winter time because they're not growing as much so in the winter these are not going to be
growing as much for you as they will be in the summer and the roots might take just a little
bit longer to form because it is winter time i'm sorry about that garbage truck guys i hope i'm not
yelling at you please remember to like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video give me a
thumbs up and just remember don't water your little succulent until it starts showing roots
and you're good to go when it's ready you can transplant it and that'll be in a few months
so i hope you guys have a great day and grow some succulents of your own
please remember to like and subscribe if you haven't already thank you so much for watching bye
