Hi everyone, it's Anya from Cooking With Plants and welcome to my channel.
Today I'm going to show you a quick and easy apple protein smoothie that I like to have if I'm in a
rush in the morning, I have it for breakfast, or even in the afternoons if I'm a little bit hungry
but it's not quite dinner time, then I might have one of these as a snack. It's also great after a
workout, it'll give you that extra protein boost and energy. So it's absolutely tasty,
easy to make and I'm going to show you how to do that right now.
So first up it is an apple smoothie, so I'm going to be putting some apple.
I've got an organic apple, I've left the peel on and it doesn't matter if you have green apples,
red apples, it really doesn't matter. Just whatever apple you have on hand, whichever
apples you like, use those. And if you don't like apples, maybe even use pears instead,
absolutely delicious. So now that I've added my apple into here, I'm going to add a couple of
cups of plant-based milk and today I'm using almond milk. You could also use soy milk, you
could use some oat milk, hemp milk, hemp seed milk would be amazing, it would add extra protein again.
So just whichever milk that you like to use, put that in and if you wanted to
halve this amount, you could do one cup of the plant-based milk and one cup of coconut water
as well, that tastes amazing also. So for the main protein content of this smoothie, I'm going to use
some frozen baby edamame and it's been shelled. So this is already pre-cooked and it's frozen and
it'll add a nice creaminess, so instead of adding frozen banana, this is an alternative that you
could use. And if you don't have edamame on hand, you can get some vegan protein powder if you
prefer to use that, but I like to stick to whole foods whenever I can and the frozen edamame,
I just find it makes it really creamy and really delicious. Also for a little bit of flavour,
I'm going to add a teaspoon of vanilla extract, one teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a tablespoon
of chia seeds. And for this recipe, I've got the written recipe on my website, I'll leave a link
to that below so you can go and check out the written recipe as well. And now it's time to give
this a blend up. Okay, so the smoothie is all blended up, it didn't even take a minute to do
this, it's just so quick and easy. And it smells so good, that apple and the cinnamon, yum. And
then I'm just going to pour it into a glass, give it a taste test. So this will make, depending on
how hungry you are, two serves. I usually will put the other half into another mason jar with a lid
and I'll store it in the fridge for a day or so, but I do like to have it fresh, so if you don't
want to use that much, then just half the recipe. It is so yummy, so delicious and so creamy. With the
chia seeds as well, it makes it extra creamy. So if ever you want to make more of a thick shaped
type of consistency, if you're making a smoothie, add some chia seeds and you will not only get
your omega-3s in, but you'll also make the smoothie really, really creamy and thick. And that is what
I am enjoying right now. It's so yum, it's so creamy, it's so fresh, yum, I love it. The cinnamon, the vanilla,
the apple, it's almost like an apple pie. So an apple pie, protein hit for your breakfast or for
a snack on the go, it's absolutely delicious. If you give this a try, please let me know, come and
join me in my Facebook group, I would love to see your creation and your photo, I'd love to see a
photo of you enjoying it as well. So come on over, join me there, I'll leave a link below
and I look forward to seeing you for the next recipe very, very soon. Bye for now.
It's so yum.
