Shennong, the third god of the myth of the three rulers and five emperors, is believed to have lived about 5,000 years ago.
He has many names or nicknames because of his very useful discoveries for humans.
Although literally his name means divine farmer, Shennong, who knows hundreds of medicinal plants and poisons by testing its benefits personally, is often referred to as the god of herbs or herbal medicines.
Shennong is often described as a man with a transparent belly and is believed to be able to see the effects of the plants he consumes when influencing himself.
It is said that he has eaten hundreds of plants and uses his body to study medicinal properties.
According to the legend, one day a minister went to the Shennong court to ask him to call a very sick person.
It is not known what caused the illness that made the person so miserable or how to help him.
Because at that time there was no medicine or medical system that was suitable, not long after the person died.
The incident shook Shennong very much. How could he remain silent while his people were suffering and dying?
He was determined to do whatever it took to expand his knowledge of medicine.
Every day after that, Shennong searched the forest and looked for wild plants, trying as much as possible to group them based on taste and nature.
Here, the transparent belly is very useful. He can see which are poisonous and which have healing benefits.
There are a total of 365 medicinal plants, several types of fruits and vegetables, as well as 5 seeds of ancient Chinese food, namely wheat, rice, jowar, peanuts and sorghum.
Therefore, he is also nicknamed the 5-seed emperor.
In his experience of trying and testing, Shennong developed knowledge of how plants grow, the type of soil that is most suitable for each seed, and in what season it grows fertile.
It is said that he found calendars, tablets, and tablets.
He also drew plans for mass cultivation, maintenance, and food storage, so that his people will always have enough food supplies.
This marks the beginning of agriculture in China.
Maybe many people wonder, how can he test so many plants?
Has he never been poisoned himself?
Of course he has, even sometimes 70 times a day.
But he always gets his medicine, which is tea.
Tea, which acts as an antidote to the poison, is found unintentionally.
According to legend, one day the leaves of the twigs used for fire rose to hot air and then landed in the water that was being boiled.
Calling it a work hazard, Shennong kept tasting the water.
He was really lucky.
It turned out that the boiling not only quenched the poison, but also brought it to life for up to 120 years.
The most famous work related to Shennong is the catalogue of classical herbal roots from Ilahi farmers.
It covers 365 medicinal plants, which is the basis of the development of traditional Chinese medicine.
It was first arranged at the end of the Western Dynasty, from 306 BC to 220 AD, 2,000 years after Shennong was believed to exist.
Respected as the father of Chinese medicine, Shennong is also believed to have introduced the acupuncture technique.
Shennong, who has the element of fire, is also known as Yanti or the emperor of fire.
This is also because as the second ancient Chinese emperor after Fuxi, Shennong taught his people to clean the field with fire.
Conan, his mother is a princess and his father is a mercenary.
Shennong is described as born with a skull and a human body, so that the people around him know that he is the highest creature.
Shennong has spoken when he was three days old, and in a week he has been walking.
When he reached the age of three, he began to plow the field.
The location that is assumed to be his birthplace is Shuizhou, located in the west of the Hubei Province, 160 km from Wuhan City.
It was also the only way to go to Longchengguno, to Diamanchu Geliang, a countryman and strategist who was famous during the Three Kingdoms period and Mount Wutang, the holy land of Taoism.
Shennong is estimated to have lived from 2737 to 2697 BC.
This is equivalent to the origin of Chinese medicine around 5,000 years ago.
Shennong is said to have died of an overdose of poison from a test that his successor was late to get.
At that time, he ate yellow flowers from a wild grass called Tuanchangchao, which means the grass that breaks the intestines.
And as painful as his hearing, it really broke his intestines before he had time to swallow his successor's tea.
Shennong gave his life for humanity, but the inheritance without his father continued to live.
The vast land that he left has no end for the people.
On his birthday, which is celebrated every 26th of the fourth lunar month, many Chinese people from all over the world come to Mount Lishan to offer prayers.
Mount Lishan is a holy place for the Chinese. There is also a cave there called the Shennong Cave.
On that day, the offering of cows or sheep in various forms is said to be inappropriate.
So the Chinese will offer pigs and donkeys as well as lighting a candle.
