עימות דיפלומטי בין קנדה להודו

India is expelling a senior Canadian diplomat. Tensions are escalating between the two countries following the killing of a Sikh activist in Canada. Hardeep Singh Niger, a leading Sikh activist and Canadian citizen, was gunned down in June in British Columbia. He was wanted by Indian authorities, who had accused him of ties to terrorism for years. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday that his government was investigating allegations of India's involvement in the assassination. Later on Monday, Canada expelled an Indian diplomat. India fought back with its own expulsion today and accused Canada of interfering in its internal affairs. The movement to establish an independent Sikh homeland has been a target of the Indian government since the 1980s. Canada is home to a sizable Sikh diaspora, making up about 2 percent of its population.
