Everyone knows the names of the four great saints, Shaka, Koshi, Socrates, and Jesus, right?
Koshi is taught in history and national language classes, so many people know his name.
Hello, everyone. I'm Aya-chan, a Chinese.
What kind of person is Koshi? What is his philosophy?
Today, I would like to talk about it.
I'm not a professor, I'm just a person who respects Koshi very much.
But recently, I read Koshi's thesis again and I was really impressed.
Today, I would like to explain Koshi and his philosophy as clearly as possible.
I would also like to make a video about Chinese traditional culture, so please subscribe to my channel if you like.
What kind of person is Koshi?
First, let's take a look at his life story together.
Koshi was an idealist, educator, and politician who was active in China at the end of the Shunzhu period.
Koshi's death was a loss, and his real name was Kokiu.
Koshi was born in a country called Luo in the present Santosho in the Shunzhu period.
In this Shunzhu period, there were a lot of wars, and the social order and morality were in a state of disarray.
When he was three years old, his father died and he had a poor life with his mother since childhood.
Koshi had a hard time during his childhood, so he had a strong will and a dignified personality.
At the age of 15, Koshi studied hard and encouraged himself to study.
He became more and more knowledgeable and became a famous person in Luoyang.
On the day when Koshi's child was born, the people of Luoyang sent love to celebrate.
From the age of 27, Koshi became a citizen of Luoyang, but at first he was left to take care of cattle and horses.
However, he worked hard at any job and continued to study at the same time.
After that, Koshi gave up his job and opened a school and devoted himself to education.
He teaches the six-stringed musical instrument called rei, gaku, sha, gyo, sho, and su, which was a must at that time.
Koshi studied education for more than 40 years and raised more than 3,000 disciples.
Among them, especially Enkai and Shikou became famous as 72 swordsmen.
In 501 B.C., Koshi, who was 51 years old, was appointed as the director of the middle east of Luoyang.
After his inauguration, Koshi held a ceremony and changed the middle east into a place where people could live in peace in just one year.
With his excellent achievements, Koshi was appointed as the highest court judge in the country by the local governor.
However, his political views and ideas were in conflict with other officials and forces.
Koshi, who was overwhelmed by his defeat, quit his job and set out on a journey of friendship with his disciples.
The life of friendship was very painful, and sometimes he faced war, famine, and sometimes death.
For 14 years, Koshi and his disciples traveled around the country and spread the teachings of morality, ethics, politics, and education to the people.
Unfortunately, there was no one who adopted his ideas at the time.
In 484 B.C., Koshi was finally able to return to his hometown of Luoyang.
At the age of 68, he lost his passion for politics and entrusted his hope in education again.
In his later years, Koshi compiled old books such as Shikyo and Shukyo to organize etiquette and music.
He also wrote a history book, Shunjyu, centering on Luoyang.
At the end of his life, Koshi experienced the pain of losing his wife and children and the separation from his beloved disciples.
He died at the age of 73.
After Koshi's death, his disciples created a speech that summarized Koshi's words and actions.
So, what's so great about Koshi's ideas?
Why did he continue to influence China and East Asia for thousands of years?
Next, let's take a look at education, politics, and ethics.
The basic principle of Koshi's education is that there is no class and no class.
In other words, there is no class and no class.
Koshi's school accepts all kinds of people, whether they are aristocrats or commoners, regardless of their status.
At that time, the principle of equal opportunity for education was very innovative.
In addition, one of the principles of education is that there is no class and no class.
It's not just about equal opportunity for education.
It's about respecting the individuality of the students and implementing different kinds of education according to their abilities and talents.
In other words, even in the same question, if different disciples ask Koshi, the answer will be different.
This educational policy is still widely accepted today.
In Koshi's time, the government of the state was collapsing and the powerful were fighting for power.
The world was in chaos and politics was in disorder.
Koshi advocated a specialism that a wise leader should use his own virtues to rule the people.
He advocated that it was appropriate politics to follow the law and punishments strictly,
take high taxes by force, and not suppress the people by force,
but to lead the people through the actions and rituals of the leader.
The core of Koshi's philosophy is the concept of Jin and Rei.
In particular, Jin is emphasized as the highest moral principle.
Koshi emphasizes the importance of elevating individual morality and building harmony and order in society as a whole.
So what is this most important Jin?
When Koshi was asked by his disciples, he gave different answers to each disciple.
Jin is to fight against Koshi's most beloved disciple, Enka, and to defeat Shio.
When his disciple, Hanchi, asked about Jin, Koshi said,
Jin is to love people.
When Shibakyu asked about Jin, Jin said,
Jin is to be kind to people.
When Chukyu asked about Jin, he said,
Jin is not to be hated by people.
He didn't define Jin clearly.
I'd like to share my personal opinion here.
When you look at the word Jin,
on the left side, there is the word Hito,
and on the right side, there is the word Ni.
I think Ni is to represent yourself and others.
If you think of yourself as others,
others as yourself,
and all others as yourself,
you will become Jin.
That's what I think.
What do you think?
Koshi's teaching and philosophy became the foundation of Jukyo.
Jukyo was influential not only in China,
but also in Japan and Korea.
Jukyo was also influential in Japan and Korea.
Some people write with all their heart and gratitude.
I was influenced by Jukyo.
