Now, warning, do not skip this step.
It makes it like an amazing frothy latte.
If you want to lose weight and if you want stable energy levels, you can
ditch your current coffee for the super healthy alternative instead.
As a nutritionist, I drink this coffee every day in order to increase
fat burning, in order to maximize for antioxidants, and to make sure
I don't get energy crashes.
And I'm going to share that exact recipe with you guys today.
Now, this coffee is keto coffee, but it's not just any keto coffee
that you'll see on the internet.
It's one that I've made to help maximize for my health and wellness
goals.
So usually each morning, I'm making two batches, one for myself and
one for my fiance.
So I like to use three of these little coffee scoopers for two cups
of coffee. For my actual coffee beans, what I use is Purity Coffee.
For the past four or five years, I only use Purity Coffee because
it's actually lab tested to be mold free, mold toxin free, as well
as optimized for antioxidants and free of pesticides.
And for myself personally, I'm pretty sensitive to mold and mold
toxins.
I found that it really spikes my anxiety.
I would have like a couple sips of other coffees and my anxiety
would go skyrocketing.
I don't get that with Purity Coffee.
I also love that Purity Coffee even shares their lab results on
their website.
They're just such a transparent company.
So if you guys want to test them out, I do have a 20% off discount
code with them.
I'll have that link down description below as well as all the other
ingredients so you guys can check that out.
Now, I freshly grind my coffee beans every morning.
You don't necessarily have to do this, but it does help to keep the
coffee more fresh and make sure that doesn't go rancid as quickly.
I also like to use a French press because I have found it's a lot
easier to clean and for that reason can even further help to reduce
the risk of having mold or mold toxins involved.
Okay, so I'm going to let this brew for eight minutes.
Okay, so now for the fat burning component of this coffee.
Most people are adding some type of sugar to their coffee, even
healthier ones like honey.
All of those will directly work against your weight loss or wellness
goals because when you drink a liquid form of sugar, which is what
you're doing when you're adding it into coffee, it very quickly
spikes the storing hormone insulin shifts the body out of fat burning
and directly into fat storing instead.
So to optimize for fat burning, we want to make sure that we're only
using high-quality fat sources.
Both protein and carbohydrates can spike the storing hormone insulin
carbohydrates to the largest degree.
Fat does not and because of that you can even use this coffee when
you're using intermittent fasting during the fasting period for that
fasting mimicking fat burning approach.
So I like to use grass-fed butter, but you can also use grass-fed ghee.
It's really just a personal preference.
Both are extremely rich in the anti-inflammatory short-chain fatty
acid called butyric acid, which is actually been found to decrease
inflammation within the GI tract.
Plus grass-fed butter is also going to contain vitamin K2, which is
actually a really important under eaten vitamin that helps to transport
calcium out of your arteries and into your bones.
So it's extremely important for both heart health and bone health.
So for two servings, I'm going to use about two tablespoons.
So this is for myself and for my fiance.
You can use a little bit less if you don't want as much of the butter.
So about one tablespoon or less for a single serving.
Now, you can also use a plant-based alternative of cacao butter.
It'll give you a similar texture and it's not going to contain those
carbohydrates that can spike insulin.
But one thing to note is that it won't contain the short-chain fatty
acid butyric acid and it also won't contain the vitamin K2, but it
still can be used as something that won't spike insulin.
So if you're looking for a plant-based approach, that's a great option.
Alright, so the other main ingredient here is coconut oil.
Coconut oil contains a pretty significant amount of medium-chain
triglycerides or MCTs.
MCTs have really blown up lately because they've been found to help
with providing a pretty instantaneous energy source for the body.
But MCTs have also been found to help improve satiety or that sensation
of satisfaction or fullness.
So I like to use a little bit less of the coconut oil, probably about
like one teaspoon per serving just because I like the flavor of the
butter instead.
You can use up to about one tablespoon per serving.
You can also use MCT oil.
I personally don't because I like to stick with a more whole food
option. MCT is a further extraction, further breakdown of something
like coconut oil.
And to be fair, MCT oil has been found to be more satiating than
coconut oil.
But if you are looking for a more whole food approach, regular
unrefined organic coconut oil would be the better option.
But you can also feel free to test out MCT oil.
Now I'm just adding the coffee and then we're going to blend it.
Now warning, do not skip this step.
If you just add in the butter and the coconut oil to hot coffee,
it's just going to be really oily and not very appetizing.
But a lot of magic happens when you blend the butter and the coconut
oil into the coffee. Makes it like an amazing frothy latte.
So you can see it's totally transformed.
We have this really nice layer of froth at the top and the butter
and the coconut oil has been completely emulsified into the coffee.
Keto coffee.
Cheers, guys.
It's literally like happiness in a cup.
Now I even have recipes on how to make this into a matcha latte,
a chai tea latte, dirty chai, even a pumpkin spice latte.
I'll have the blog post for all those different recipes linked down
description below for you guys.
