Do you know why Confucius is called the "Teacher of All Times"?

It turned out that this was an honorific title given by Emperor Kangxi, and it was later widely spread by the world.

After Emperor Kangxi visited Qufu Confucian Temple in Shandong Province in the 23rd year of Kangxi to worship Confucius, he wrote down the "Teacher of All Ages" and requested that it be made into an imperial plaque and distributed to be hung in the Dacheng Hall of Confucian temples across the country. Since Emperor Kangxi, successive emperors and presidents have presented imperial plaques to the Confucius Temple, which has become a tradition that has been passed down to this day. Therefore, the Imperial Plaque of Tainan Confucius Temple is the most complete Confucius Temple in the Chinese region that preserves the imperial plaques of successive emperors of the Qing Dynasty.

However, during the Cultural Revolution, many imperial plaques in Confucius temples in mainland China were destroyed. The precious plaque of Emperor Kangxi is now the only one left hanging in the Dacheng Hall of the Confucian Temple in Tainan.

Incidentally, the authentic calligraphy of "Master of All Ages" written by Emperor Kangxi was also escorted to Taiwan in a low-key manner by Kong Decheng, the 77th descendant of Confucius, and donated it to Taiwan's Forbidden City in 1988. Exhibited in the South Courtyard of the Forbidden City. It is also designated as a National Treasure by the Ministry of Culture.

The Tainan Confucian Temple has a history of more than 300 years. It was founded in the 19th year of the Yongli calendar of the Ming Dynasty (1665).
