The Greenbelt Report: What it Means for Municipalities
Aug 25, 2023
Last year Ontario opened some privately-owned land that was in the protected Greenbelt area. This was meant for developers to build houses. This month, the province's auditor general raised serious concerns about how it happened. To dispel some confusion on this issue and discuss how municipalities and developers normally do this kind of work, we welcome: Zack Taylor, associate professor of political science and part of Western University's Local Government Program, and a fellow at the Institute on Municipal Finance and Governance; and Shoshanna Saxe, Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Infrastructure and assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto.
