Spain striker Jenny Hermoso has been quoted as saying she didn't like being kissed by the Spanish
FA president Luis Rubiales. The incident happened as they celebrated victory on the podium.
Yeah, the forward Hermoso is Spain's all-time record scorer, was seen to embrace 45-year-old
Rubiales as the medals were handed out, but the picture showed he then kissed her on the lips.
Now we are seeking comment from the Spain cam. Well this is what Hermoso said during an Instagram
live video following the trophy ceremony. When asked a question about the incident she replied
yeah, I did not enjoy it. But later in comments given to the AFP news agency by the Spanish
Federation, Hermoso is then quoted as saying it was a totally spontaneous mutual gesture because
of the immense joy that winning a World Cup brings. The president and I have a great relationship,
his behaviour with all of us has been outstanding and it was a natural gesture of affection and
gratitude. Meanwhile Rubiales has hit out at the criticism. He told Radio Marca when two people
have a moment of affection without any importance we can't listen to idiocy. We're champions and I
stay with that. You have to think that might be a story that will rumble on and on. There's also
some sad news that came out of yesterday's final and it involves the winning goal scorer Olga
Carmona. It emerged after the game that her dad died before the final. The Spain captain who
dedicated her winning goal to a friend's mother who had recently passed only found out about her
father's death after leading her team to the title. He'd been ill for some time. Carmona posted this
on social media and without knowing it I had my start before the game started. I know that you
have given me the strength to achieve something unique. I know that you've been watching me
tonight and that you are proud of me. Rest in peace dad.
