Welcome back to Kids' Cove. Today, let's learn about continents and oceans.
There are 7 continents and 5 oceans around the world. A continent is basically a large
solid area of land. The 7 continents ranked by size are Asia, Africa, North America,
South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia. Let's explore them one by one.
Asia. It has the biggest land area and the world's biggest population.
It is also home to pandas and bengal tigers. Africa. It is the continent with the most
countries. There are 54 of them. It is also home to African elephants and African lions.
North America. It is the home of the largest island in the world, Greenland. Animals like
moose and bald eagles can be found here. South America. It has the longest mountain range
and the highest waterfalls. You will find blue morpho butterflies and llamas on this continent.
Antarctica. It is covered almost completely by ice. It is also home to emperor penguins and
leopard seals. Europe. You will find the smallest country in the world, the Vatican City. It is also
home to brown bears and bisons. Australia. It is the only continent covered by a single country.
It is also the home to kangaroos and koalas. Now let's move on to the oceans. The ocean is
a huge body of salt water that covers most of the earth's surface. All of the oceans and seas
on earth are actually interconnected, so it's actually one big global ocean. Still, because of
geographical and historical reasons, different names have been given to the five oceans. And
here are the five oceans ranked by size. The Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean,
the Southern Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean. Let's learn more about each one of them.
The Pacific Ocean is the biggest and deepest ocean. 60% of the world's fish come from here.
It is also the home to many different coral species.
The Atlantic Ocean is about half the size of the Pacific Ocean. It's also the saltiest ocean.
The Indian Ocean covers about 20% of the earth's surface. It also provides the largest breeding
grounds for humpback whales. The Southern Ocean is located around the South Pole. It's also the
home to blue whales. Last but not least, the Arctic Ocean is located around the North Pole.
It's the coldest ocean and there are many polar bears living on the Arctic ice.
