湖北省，简称“鄂”，别名楚、荆楚，省会武汉，地处中国中部地区。润泽楚天，水网纵横，湖泊密布，湖北省因此又称“千湖之省”。
湖北省地势大致为东、西、北三面环山，中间低平，略呈向南敞开的不完整盆地。在全省总面积中，山地占56%，丘陵占24%，平原湖区占20%，属长江水系。湖北省地处亚热带，全省除高山地区属高山气候外，大部分地区属亚热带季风性湿润气候。湖北历史代表文化为“荆楚文化”。
Hubei Province, referred to as "E", also known as Chu and Jingchu, is located in the central region of China. Moist Chutian, criss-cross water network, densely covered with lakes, Hubei Province is therefore also known as the "Province of Thousand Lakes". The terrain is roughly surrounded by mountains on three sides in the east, west and north, and the middle is low and flat, forming an incomplete basin slightly open to the south. In the total area of the province, mountains account for 56%, hills account for 24%, and plain lake areas account for 20%, belonging to the Yangtze River system.
