Coach Tobias Langemeyer knows it's a tough mission but motivates his team as best he can.
For only the second time in the club's history in 33 years after the first time,
Belsenbrook have made it to the first round of the DFB Pokal. They take on the Bundesliga's
Borussia Mönchengladbach with new coach Gerardo Sioane now holding the reins of the foals.
Good start from Belsenbrook.
Oh, the crowd like this.
They've caught Gladbach unawares, Ondin with the save, the follow-up from Mané, cleared.
What a great start from Belsenbrook, the underdogs. He's pleased with that.
Player got his foot in the way. Oh, lovely little scooped ball, player lays it back.
This is Franck Honorat, that's the first goal, that's what they've been looking for
on his 27th birthday. Honorat makes it 1-0 in his first competitive game for Gladbach.
Nearly half an hour gone, Gladbach starting to get into gear.
Forward with a head out post and Cervantes with the follow-up.
Nearly another new signing on the score sheet.
Denied by the post and inaccuracy. Really starting to run away with it now. Gladbach,
this is player, he's got lots of room. Nkumu, Nkumu wants to shoot, he gets a deflection
but he gets a goal as well. Nathan Nkumu getting his first cup goal, scored once in
Bundesliga against Wolfsburg last season. 2-0. Player, oh that's a lovely ball from Alassane
Player. Nkumu, will he shoot? Oh he's tried to go around the keeper, he'll have to wait for
support. There's Cervantes and another new boy gets a goal. Both he and Nkumu have been scoring
for fun in pre-season, now in competition. Still 10 minutes to go to the break, you can tell.
The foals are really up for this one. Cervantes with a cheeky goal, his second of the game.
He's not really claiming that he meant to do that. Might have just hit his other foot but it took it
away from the keeper and it's 4-0. They've never lost to a fifth tier side and they're not likely
to this time either. It's not so much that Belsenbrook have collapsed, it's just that
Gladbach are upping the inputs and they've just put another one in.
A second of the game for Franck Honnevar and he's quite demure in his celebrations.
A little embarrassing that one, perhaps a bit too easy. Still just under a quarter of an hour to go.
Another one of those player passes, it's really good stuff. Runoffs the substitute, lays it off.
Robin Hack makes it six, another goal from another substitute.
And another new signing takes his goal well.
Last minute, but Gladbach don't look as if they finished the scoring.
Plea, this is Ranos, still Ranos and he's touched it in the corner to make it seven.
Seven goals, six of them from summer signings. That is going to put a smile on the face of every
Gladbach fan out there. A foregone conclusion perhaps, but the fifth division side gave a
good account of themselves in the end, though it was the gap in quality that shone through
as the foals galloped away with the game.
