What we're gonna do is use all those papers, leaves that no longer serve us.
And reuse them again by recycling them and converting them back into a totally new leaf.
For this, the main material we will use is a frame like this for recycled paper,
The typical guy who brings a mallita here.
Apart from that wooden frame, we'll also need a blender of this type,
A tray like this is also big enough where we can put the rack and it fits perfectly,
Some cloth cuts of this size approximate to be as smooth as possible.
These, for example, son of old rags,
paper that is already used or that is no longer suitable for recycling,
Acrylic paints or tinting in case you want to give it some color,
Also a painting roll, a little one like that will make us perfect,
a sponge or a trapo to absorb.
So with all that cleverness, as you've seen, the hardest thing to get is the backstage.
We can start.
First we'll make trocitos of all our old leaves like this.
If there's any that have too much color, we can remove that piece and simply put it aside.
By doing that, we'll get our paper as white as possible.
Ya when you got all those pieces of paper ready,
You just put them in the blender and you pour a little water.
This step, of course, is done with the water bottle off and now you're pouring a little water.
More or less the amount of water, made up of about three quarters.
Let the paper soften for about 5 or 10 minutes, so the machine won't force so much.
And at this point, yes, we activate so that it starts shredding all the paper.
You must have been grinding for about 2 minutes or so.
If you don't have one of these blenders, of course you can make it with a hand blender,
But without a doubt, in a liqueur machine you will be much easier.
After we've been grinding for a couple of minutes, we'll have this pulp.
You'll see that this pulp is left like little pegotitos and it's really not like it was some kind of sand, so you understand me.
But don't worry, those pegotes are normal.
When you've got that ready, we'll just pass it to the barrel and fill it with plenty of water.
Let's say the water depth has to be approximately 3 fingers.
Enough so I can dive in well enough behind the scenes.
Then we pour the pulp that we just crushed and start removing it carefully through all the water.
Now you just have to mix all that pulp and you're ready to submerge the back.
I can say that since we're making recycled paper, that unless we use clean water,
But you've already used it for something else or just sea rainwater.
So this whole process will be 100% recycled.
See, this is the amount of pulp and water that's in this barrel.
You have to have a similar viscosity of pulp, so when you raise your hand, you have several pieces of paper pulp.
On the other hand I'm going to prepare a canvas and this canvas is already with the rodillo a little wet let's give him a few steps to move this canvas.
First I'm going to show you how to do it with a railing and as you can see, on one side the mesh falls by less than a millimeter.
We have to leave the pulp of paper on top of the mesh where there are fewer millimeters.
In this case this rack has about 2 millimeters of depth.
That's exactly the thickness of pulp you should be looking for.
We're ready and every time you go to submerge the backyard remember to remove the water.
Now with the water well agitated we submerge the raft carefully and with a single pass we raise it.
This move is a little difficult, sometimes you probably won't get it right the first time, but no problem, just pull all the pulp and repeat.
As we're doing with a single canvas I'm helping the sponge to remove the paper residue from the edges and now if we go to the trap.
We'll put him on his feet and without thinking too much we'll turn him around.
Remember that the cloth or sheet was already wet.
With the help of a cloth, a sponge or even a roller we will remove the excess water.
As you see there is plenty of salt and it is necessary to extract as much water as possible while it is still turned over because if it does not take very long to dry.
After we extract the water, we lift the railing to the other side and ready, there we have the first leaf.
Note that we have a thickness of about 2 millimeters, it looks pretty thick, but once it loses all the moisture that thickness will decrease a lot until it becomes quite smooth.
So we're going to do another one, we remove the water, we dive, we lift, we start to drain as much water as possible, we clean the edges a little bit.
You can also put your hand under the net so it flows better and so quickly that's how we have another sheet exactly the same so we can put the ladito.
We do the same thing as before, lift the railing and get the other sheet.
After you have the leaves you put another piece of cloth on top and as you see with the rodillo we do a little pressure to go flattening perfectly the leaves on that side since it had remained with the texture of the mesh.
In addition, use it to moisten the entire canvas and edges as this will make it easier to stick it on a wall or smooth site.
Now we go with the second method which is quite more professional because if you use two pieces and the leaves are much more paired.
It's this rack, I bought it on Amazon for about 17€ and as you can see the top piece fits perfectly on top of the mesh.
So we'll immerse ourselves in the water by holding the two pieces together like this and we'll immerse ourselves in the water doing this movement as you see.
Remember to remove the pulp before submerging and the process is exactly the same as before, we have to try to leave a thickness of about 2 millimeters.
Then we remove the top part and now we get a much more even sheet of paper.
We volcano as before, we extract all the water we can, we pass the rodillo and finally we remove the mesh with care.
That's how we get these leaves that look a lot better.
We'll put all the pieces on the canvas and we'll put them on a smooth surface, it can be a window, the floor or for example I'm putting it in the closet.
This way it's about repeating the same process until we've used up all the water pulp.
There will come a time when you will see that there is little pulp left and the layers are left with little thickness, then you will have to add more pulp.
This is the roughest ideal, to do this whole process, every move, takes a little time but the truth is that at least it's not difficult.
And although they are simple leaves, at the end of the day we are making handmade leaves and totally unique, so I think that gives them a pretty special value.
Since they can be used for greeting cards and that kind of thing I think it's a detail.
Also to give you a more rustic or special touch, for example I'm adding these purple touches here,
But you can also add dried leaves and any kind of ornament that is flat.
Ornaments are put on after the mesh has been slightly drained, as at that point it is still all quite wet and will melt into the pulp.
Then just like with the others, we do the same process exactly.
And since we're making handmade leaves, I think it'll be a pretty good yellow tone.
To do that you have to deposit a little paint of the color you want, acrylic paint.
Remove in a bowl with water so that it mixes perfectly and then put it in the tray.
You have to remove everything well enough so that the pulp gets a good impression of the new color we just applied.
Once we've applied the color, we can do the process normally.
I wanted to make two-color leaves, so I opted to make the yellow first and then this magenta.
Because if I had started with the magenta and then wanted to make yellow, then it wouldn't have gone well.
So if you want to make three different colors in one print, consider which color you apply first.
This way we'll be making all the leaves we want until we've completely used up the pulp.
And if we still have a little left in the tray, we can save it for next time by simply sticking the pulp that's left.
The next step is to let the leaves dry for a couple of days if you're in summer and about three days if you're in winter.
You'll notice that after the first day the leaves start to wrinkle a little and you might have to put on some body belt to keep them from falling off.
Now, yes, after they're totally dry and no before, we can remove them carefully.
You'll notice that the leaves fall off the canvas with great ease.
You have to grab the leaf and stretch down the canvas.
Depending on whether you left one millimeter or two millimeter thick, you'll have leftovers like a sheet of printer paper or a cardboard box.
I finally got between 12 and 14 leaves that I was making and left to dry for a couple of days.
And well, if some of them stay a little curved, you can put some weight on them for a couple of days.
We have our incredible recycled paper sheets.
Like I said, you can make it in a lot of colors, different thicknesses, put on the ornaments you want.
Here he showed you the two ways you can make money with one back or two.
If you do them with one rack, then they'll become more rustic, more random.
And that's also good because it gives it that old-fashioned touch.
So, friends and friends, these are the results we've obtained by making paper using the traditional method.
I hope you try it at home and recycle all the paper you have because the truth is it's a pretty fun activity to do and very creative.
