Highlights: Manchester United - Arsenal | Friendly Match 2023

While the Premier League's most enduring rivalry goes stateside, United-Arsenal in the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Bruno Fernandes over the top from Luke Shaw. Fernandes! Fernandes holds the ball up, plays it towards the edge of the area. Anthony's there and it dribbles just wide. Well, you can't help thinking United might have made a bit better of that. Great run by Bruno Fernandes. He spotted Anthony, but unfortunately he rather scuffed the shot. Yeah, it's a brilliant ball from Luke Shaw. Both teams in these first five minutes just feeling each other out, giving the ball away a little bit, nobody really settled. Shaw getting really tight to Saka as he's going to have to do. Now Martinelli can hit them from there. Martinelli! Whistled over the top. He had a great season as well, 15 goals he got last season. Definitely had Tom Heaton cleaning windows in that top left-hand corner. Saka, look at the space he's got here. Saka pulls it across, here's a great chance. The rebound, superbly saved by Heaton. Goodness me, it opened up there. And I think he'll be really disappointed, that his second effort in particular, Martinelli, he couldn't get it properly on target. It was straight at the keeper, really. Did well, Tom Heaton, did do really well. Kobe Mane has done brilliantly there. And now here's Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes has a go, why not? And scores! Ramsdale got a hand to it, he couldn't keep it out. Bruno Fernandes, left foot into the corner of the net. And United are ahead in New Jersey. Arsenal nil, United one. Well, United's two best moves have both included the youngster Kobe Mane, who's heavily involved with his run. And he's passed to find the goal scorer, brilliant. Gabriel had a nightmare there. Now Sancho racing through. He's got Ganacho with him. He doesn't need him! What a beauty! A fantastic strike, Jadon Sancho. The angle was acute, the strike was true, into the roof of the net. And United have two. Wow. And that'll do absolute wonders for Jadon Sancho and his confidence, because it's a brilliant finish. Odegaard takes it quickly. Here's a great chance. Oh, flashed across the face of goal. Eddie Nketiah will be so disappointed that once he made the run and did the hard work, he couldn't get it on target. Do you think that was a shot? Odegaard calling for it. Here he is, on that left foot. Chips a dangerous ball in Havertz. He was ghosting in. And once he got there, he feared the worst. He'll be disappointed that wasn't on target. Well, I'm saying nothing. That's a problem as you're the co-commentator. Well, he should have scored. Towards Palistri. Tomane, onto this. Palistri, driven wide. Palistri! You remember, Jadon Sancho scored from quite a similar angle in the first half. That one flew into the roof of the net, sadly. That one flew over the top. Did really well. Tomane allowed Palistri to run on, obviously using his pace. Could he have found somebody in the middle? Three games, three wins in pre-season. No goals conceded for Manchester United, and they've beaten their old rivals Arsenal by two goals to nil.
