I have three very specific products
I'm gonna talk about today that have transformed my skin.
I've been very strict with my skincare routine
since I was in my 20s.
I'm 43 now and you guys, my skin texture,
the elasticity, the pores and all that
is so much better now than in my 20s
and I swear by these three products.
This is not sponsored, paid for these with my own money,
have been using them for many, many years.
So at the end of this video,
I will go over some other things I've had done,
whether I've had Botox and filler and lasers
and all of that because I think that is important
and I need to be transparent about that.
However, I swear to you,
your skincare is the number one thing.
You can do all of the injectables
and fancy treatments possible,
but if you don't take care of your skin
when you get to my age,
it's just not gonna be where you want it to be.
So all of that being said,
let's get right into our three products.
The first thing you need in your skincare routine
is a glycolic acid toner.
It could be different acids.
There's like lactic acid, mandelic acid.
I personally use the glycolic one.
I like this one because it's inexpensive
and it's super effective.
You guys can tell because look how much is left.
This is my second bottle.
Been using this for years now.
It's by The Ordinary.
It's their toning solution.
Every morning or night,
I put this after I wash my face on a little pad.
I rub it all over my skin, let it kind of dry.
Then I put my serum and then my moisturizer.
So that's my step.
It's my second step in my routine.
I don't go a day without using it.
What this does is it helps keep my skin fresh, bright.
It helps me from breaking out.
Helps with pigmentation.
It just keeps my skin looking very even toned
and acne-free.
So that's why I use this.
I swear by it.
It's inexpensive.
You can get it at Ulta, you guys.
Then the second item I have is vitamin C.
So I have two options for you guys.
I have a high-end one.
I have an inexpensive one.
So my favorite high-end is SkinCeuticals.
This is probably my third bottle.
It's their CE Ferulic.
Hopefully I'm saying that right.
It has vitamin C and E.
So I use this once a day
and that's gonna help with brightening, toning the skin,
just helping with aging, fine lines, all of that.
Vitamin C is so good for you.
Make sure whatever brand that you get,
it has a dark bottle
so that it doesn't destroy the vitamin C basically inside.
So if it has a dark bottle, I'd say get it.
But this brand, it is really pricey,
but every product I've tried from them has been amazing.
I wouldn't say get the whole line.
Get a couple key items from that that are worth it
because I'm telling you, it's such a great brand.
So that's my vitamin C.
But if you're on a budget or you wanna save some money,
I've been talking about this.
When you can get it on Amazon, it's by Tree of Life.
It is their vitamin C serum.
You guys, there's probably 20,000 reviews
of this brand on Amazon.
They're all almost five star.
Everyone loves this brand and it's so cheap.
It's less than, I think it's like $12.
You can get a set of three of like Hyaluronic Acid,
vitamin C and something else for $20.
It's so inexpensive.
I don't even know how they make a profit on that,
but this is the brand, has a dark bottle.
So that is one that I use as well.
Sometimes I'll rotate them
to kind of get this to stretch out a little bit more
because she's pricey.
So I use these two.
And then the third one is the heavy hitter.
If you are in your 20s, especially late 20s,
please listen when I say this.
This is the one thing that has transformed my skin.
Not the Botox, not any lasers, not fillers,
not whatever bullshit people try to sell you.
This is it.
And you can get it from a dermatologist
for I think like $75 if you don't have insurance.
If you have insurance, super cheap.
So it's the Tretinoin,
which is the highest grade version of Retin-A, Retinol.
So I get this from a dermatologist
or a medical esthetician.
I'm on 1.1%, which is pretty strong
because I started using this when I was 28.
So when I started getting really strict
on my skincare routine, I asked my esthetician,
like what can I do to help me when I get older
to age as gracefully as I can?
I don't wanna look like a plastic.
I don't wanna look like, you know,
I have strings holding up my face.
I don't wanna need that.
I wanna age gracefully,
but I still wanna do what I can now
to prevent anything when I'm older.
So here I am, I'm older now.
My younger self, I would like to thank you for this product.
I'm telling you guys,
this has helped with skin texture, my pores.
So I started when I was 28 using this.
Six months after I started using it,
my pores actually started shrinking.
When people tell you that your pores cannot shrink,
I don't actually believe that because mine did.
I don't know how.
This is magic.
So inexpensive, you guys.
Get a prescription grade
because you'll see a lot of products in stores
that have retinol, retin-A,
some sort of derivative of that.
It's not gonna be high enough percentage
to give you the effects that you want.
So I would definitely say get a pure cream.
I apply this twice a week because it's pretty strong.
I'm gonna work myself up again to a few times a week.
When you use retinol or tretinoin,
it can irritate the skin.
It causes redness, causes it to get a little irritated.
So a lot of people will stop using it.
They'll give up.
Don't give up.
I promise your skin will get used to it.
It'll calm down.
Start with the lowest percentage possible.
Talk to your dermatologist.
Ask them what's the lowest percentage.
Do it just once a week.
Then do twice a week.
Then do it three times.
Get used to that for a good six months to a year
and then the next year, increase the percentage.
And that's what I've done since I was 28 years old
and now I'm on a pretty strong dosage of tretinoin
and then once I get going on this,
I'm gonna be doing it at least a few times a week
and my skin, I can tell a massive difference
in pigmentation, pore size, elasticity, breakouts.
When I don't use this, I break out more often.
Like this is some sort of magic cream.
I know I'm preaching a lot on that
but I swear you guys, just trust me.
My 43 year old self, please trust me.
So now let's talk about what I've had done to my face.
Not had any plastic surgery.
I've not had facelifts.
I've not had nose jobs.
I've not had anything extreme done
but I have had Botox to my forehead
so that does smooth out the wrinkles here.
I started doing that when I was 31
and I did it as a preventative method.
I didn't even really need it then
but I knew that I was gonna thank myself later.
So I started doing it once or twice a year
and over time, it started to relax the muscles so much
naturally that now at 43, I do it maybe once a year.
When I was pregnant with my daughter and through COVID,
it was like three years that I did no Botox at all
and my skin still looked really, really good.
It was still super smooth.
Everyone was like, did you get Botox?
I'm like, no, I actually haven't.
I was pregnant.
I couldn't.
So now I picked it up again and I do it once a year
and that helps with the lines.
It's not going to help with fine texture,
like fine, you know, the pores and like little,
you know, marionette lines and things like that.
It's not gonna help with like small little skin texture
but it will help with actual wrinkles.
So I do recommend that.
The other thing that I had done that I don't do anymore
is eye filler under here
and then I did a couple times to my lips
which that was an awful experience.
It balled up.
It was so bad.
I had to have it dissolved.
So I have a hate, a love hate relationship with fillers.
When I lost a bunch of weight, I was at my thinnest.
I needed fillers because it hollowed out so bad.
People thought I was like, that I was hit
or I was sick or something like they,
my dark circles were so, so strong that I needed it.
But now I don't, cause I got a little fluff on you guys.
So I'm filled out naturally.
So I don't need fillers under there for now.
Would I do a little bit in my lips?
Maybe, but I would use the thinnest formula.
I think there's like Restylane Silk
or there's some sort of new one someone was talking about
that I haven't tried it.
I don't have any filler in my lips right now
but I think I might get just a little here
just as I'm getting older, I'm getting the lines
and I've lost a little bit of volume.
I'll do just a small, small amount.
So I would say I'm on the fence about fillers.
Botox, I love.
Fillers, I'm like, you could take or leave it.
And then the third thing is lasers.
Now this, I do actually feel like it works.
I haven't done a ton of them.
I've done, I think over the course of the last 15 years
I've done five of them.
I usually do a clear and brilliant laser
which is the lowest grade fraxel
cause I'm a big ass baby.
I don't want something that's gonna shred my face up
and like put me out of filming or being in the public
for weeks on end.
So I do the clear and brilliant one.
It did help some with some pigmentation.
Was it miracle working and was it worth the price?
I'm on the fence of that.
I would say if it's not in your budget,
don't stress about it.
I think the tretinoin is definitely something to do instead
but I do think if you can budget
or save up for some lasers,
I think it's worth doing
as you get in your late thirties, maybe forties.
I'm starting to do it a little bit more now
but I don't think you need to start that
in your twenties or thirties.
That's just my personal opinion.
So those are the three things that I have had done.
I've tried microneedling along the jawline
to try to tighten that.
I did see some results with that with just tightening
but it didn't really help me a lot with texture
and it was pricey.
And you had to do so many treatments back to back.
So I don't know if that was my favorite
if I would ever do that again too.
I did it years ago, like a series of them.
But outside of that, I really think that your skincare
and Botox would be my top two
that I'd recommend to keep your skin looking,
aging as gracefully as possible.
That's the goal.
We don't want to look plastic or fake.
We want to look like ourselves
but we want to look like the most gracefully aged person
of ourselves.
And then last, I'm going to show you a few
key skincare products that I love.
I can do a skincare routine if you guys want.
You just tell me what you want to see.
I am happy to do that if you want.
I'll just briefly mention these.
I'm not going to do a deep review
but I love the Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream.
I've been using this for years.
It's great if you have dry skin
or sensitive skin, works amazing.
It is pricey, but I'm telling you, it is incredible.
It's my favorite moisturizer.
Peach and Lily, their Lactic Acid Repair Serum.
This is a great serum that's more gentle.
So it gives you the benefits of an acid
without it being strong.
So if you have sensitive skin,
you don't like any sort of burning,
you want something that's still going to be effective,
that's a great one.
I use this all the time as their Glass Skin Veil Mist.
It's a great toner.
It's great for hydrating.
If your skin's dry, you need a little saturation,
a little moisture going on, this is great.
And it's good for setting your makeup too
to kind of get rid of any powdery or cakiness going on.
This bad boy I've been using for years,
the Dermalogica, what is it?
The Daily Microfoliant.
She's pricey.
Every time I have to go buy her,
I'm like, my soul inside is like, but it's so good.
It's such a good exfoliant.
It's gentle, has the little powder
you mix in with the water, you rub it on your face.
Like it works, chef's kiss.
It's amazing, but I'm not going to say, it is pricey.
And then my oil cleanser that I've been using
is the Bobbi Brown one, the Soothing Cleansing Oil.
I love that if I have full glam, lots of makeup on,
I'll use this to cleanse my skin
before I do my traditional cleanser.
And then this is my go-to serum that I love
is the Clarins Double Serum.
I've talked about this for a long time.
This is probably my eighth bottle now that I'm on.
I need to go get some more.
I've been trying to stretch it out.
She's so good.
It hydrates my skin, keeps it clear.
It just makes my skin like super smooth.
So that's my favorite serum.
So hopefully that helps you all
with how to age gracefully,
some great skincare things to do in your routine.
Have a great week, you all.
I will see you soon and stay happy and healthy like always.
And I'll talk to you later, bye.
