The Rejang Giri Putri dance is inspired by a story in Itihasa which describes Lord Shiva and Goddess Parwati doing meditation on Mount Kailash for the safety, welfare and prosperity of the universe and its contents.

Dewi Parwati is also called Giri Putri, Giri is a mountain that is strong and sturdy and majestic which is able to provide a source of life for all creatures, Putri is the name of a Goddess Parwati as the magic of Lord Shiva who is so graceful, gentle and authoritative which symbolizes greatness and omnipotence a Goddess who protects and protects the entire universe (Stitining Bhuwana Langgeng).

"From this philosophy came the idea of the Rejang Giri Putri dance. The dance which is very gentle and beautiful is combined with gamelan accompaniment with melodic melodies that take the philosophy of the meaning of daksana which consists of three elements, namely a circle as a symbol of windu, a rectangle as a symbol for Catur Pada and a triangle as a symbol for Tri Kona. This series of three elements is outlined in a five-tone melody that is woven to form a rhythm that flows without stopping like an unbroken circle, in order to reach Moksartham Jagadhita.
