Sea to Snow

From Sea to Snow.

I composed this little tune last year for a friend of mine. It's a sweet little tune, so I thought I'd dig up some old footage from last year and craft some kind of video out of it. I managed to stitch this thing together, and tell a bit more of a story with this one. This video follows a typical journey through Central Otago, which is such a diverse region here in New Zealand. From coast the mountain crag and snow. My piano box pieces often lack any kind of story. They are generally more about providing something relaxing and ambient, open to the imagination. The focus is often on the framing and composition of the shots nowadays. I'll try to get more into storytelling with them as I go along.

The beautiful thing is that I think the piano box will be an artistic medium I will always be exploring, for the rest of my life. Just because it's so easy to make one. Piano box has been the single most hassle-free, relaxed, calming, intuitive music project I've ever worked on, it's such a joy. I never expected that. So I'm excited to continue making them. These days, this channel is unfortunately on maintenance mode, as I'm focussed on building another channel (Josh Bottz channel). Though, even in maintenance mode, I can still continue producing piano box videos, and I think that is enough for now. It's also pretty much what I have always been doing on my channel and how I started: piano music with scenic New Zealand footage.
