It is another bright and lovely day beautiful people. Welcome to Nanaba's Kitchen. Greetings
and blessings. Today I'm bringing you Lemonade. Old-fashioned style infused with loads of love.
So let's start. I have some granulated sugar in which I am grating the zest of 10 of these
freshly plucked and washed lemons. Because as I have stated in previous videos, the essence,
the life, the character of any citrus fruit is really in the zest. Alright now I've boiled some
water too so I am creating my simple syrup with the zest by adding some of that water. So I have
two cups of sugar. I have added two cups of hot water. Today the simple syrup is being created
off of the stove. So I just stir it to combine and set that aside to allow for the thorough
extraction of the lemon essence from the zest and also allow that sugar to dissolve completely.
Now let's proceed by juicing all of the lemons which I have halved by cutting them in two.
I have 22 of these lemons. They are very juicy as you can see. So I juice them all and I pass
it immediately through a strainer to catch the pulp and any seeds that might escape from the
juicer because this lemonade is pulp free. That's how we like it in this household but you can keep
the pulp in if you like it that way. It will work well here in this recipe as well. And friends for
this old-fashioned lemonade, I have pre-measured two liters of drinking water. Alright and that is
going to make it really tart, very concentrated lemon flavor and the acidity is going to be up
there. But I do that on purpose because I'll be serving this over a lot of ice so that will dilute
things for us as we go. Keep on watching. So now we've juiced all of the lemons and the next step
is straining the simple syrup with the lemon zest in it. And this lemon zest is sweet like candy.
You can literally munch on them and you'll have a good time. But what I did was I rinsed them up
with some of that drinking water and strained them a second time. And if you're wondering what I did
with the remainder of the lemon zest, I used it actually to deodorize my sink. It was time to do
that anyway and so I put it in the garbage disposal, turned it on with some running water
and it immediately deodorizes the whole environment including the sink and cleans it out nice and
thorough. It leaves a nice little citrusy smell in the home as well. So that's win-win. And I love
win-win. No waste is always a good day. So now I am combining the lemon juice with the zesty
simple syrup. And I'm actually straining the lemon juice once more because believe it or not
there was still a little pulp that escaped into the juice because my strainer happens to be too
small. But it is the finest one I had so I had to use it. And you can still see some seeds in there.
And then rinse that also with the drinking water you pre-measured and add the rest to it.
Stir to combine and voila! Here is your old-fashioned Nanabe's Kitchen style
lemonade. And look at that bright refreshing color on it. The taste is to live for. Friends,
this is not some extremely diluted kind of lemonade. No. The tartness is there. It is
sweetened well. It is definitely lemony because of the lemon zest we added. So pour it over a lot
of ice because we sweetened it beyond the normal amount. Okay. So you need that ice to dilute
everything for you. And the ice makes it nice and chilled. Goes down really smoothly. You would
love this lemonade. I thank you for watching friends and family. I hope you enjoyed yourself
and learned a thing or two. It is drink time in a chop time kind of way. So make it a great day
