There are some simple style mistakes that can ruin the most perfectly put together summer
outfit in an instant but they're easy to avoid and easy to fix. So in today's video I'm going
to share with you some simple rules to follow if you want to look your best this summer.
Whether it's a sudden drop of temperature indoors or a cool breeze in the evening or
a need for some protection, a lightweight layer is essential in a summer wardrobe and yet so many
ladies forget to carry one or take one with them. Wearing a sweater worn over the shoulders is a
stylish way to be prepared for cold weather by making the item a part of the outfit. Now rather
than wearing a sweater you could actually do this look with a cardigan. So wear nor, if you need it
you can wear it worn draped over the shoulders. It looks incredibly chic and it will keep you warm
without making you too hot and it will protect your shoulders from getting burnt. Which leads
me on to another simple style mistake which is forgetting to wear a high factor SPF. Apart from
the long-term damage to your skin, in the short term sunburn means what you wear is determined by
how burnt your skin is so potentially your outfits could be ruined. It may be as simple as missing
those areas like the crease of your underarms, the backs of your knees, your chest and if you use any
kind of retinols or other products like that on your face then it's even more important to cover
your face with an SPF. I don't know about you but I find skincare really really confusing. There's
so many different products out there and so many different ingredients. Peptides, glycolic acid,
beta hydroxy acid, retinols, I mean it's an absolute minefield. It's just so difficult to
know where to start and what you should be using or shouldn't be using to make your skin look great.
If you feel the same way you should try Skin and Me, you will absolutely love it. It's a made-to-order
formulation just for you. No more guesswork of what ingredients you should or shouldn't be using.
Your formula is put together by a member of the dermatology team specifically for you and for your
specific skin goals. When you start using Skin and Me the only way that I can describe it is it's like
the sun breaking through the clouds on a really grey day. All of a sudden skincare just becomes
easier and clearer. It's delivered to your door every month and you get just enough product just
for one month and just before it's finished you get another one delivered to your door. Now this
is the daily dose for it comes in. This is fully recyclable packaging and the formula is vegan and
it's also cruelty free. It measures just the dose you need so you don't have to wonder how much you
use. You just twist it round, you hear a little click and that's all you need. You put it on just
after you've cleansed, wait 10 minutes and then you moisturise. It's just so simple. When you sign
up you take an online consultation and you tell them what your skin goals are. It takes about
five minutes if that. My skin goal was to improve the texture of my skin. I just wanted it to look a
little bit brighter and since I've been using it I have noticed that my skin looks a little bit more
balanced now so I'm really happy with the results so far. The ingredients in my formula are things
I'd never know where to start with or how to put them together. It's treatment plans specifically
for me to reach my skin goals. It's like a breath of fresh air for me, it really is. So if you do
feel like me and find skincare really confusing then you should try Skin and Me. If you use my
code what2wear it's on the screen right now for you. You can get your first month, your first
daily dose for just £4.99. It's a brilliant price. I'll link it below in the description
box as well for you and there'll be a link there to the Skin and Me website so you can find out a
little bit more information. Wearing heavy or closed toe shoes in really hot weather can be
very uncomfortable but they can also disrupt the overall balance of your outfit. The silhouette of
an outfit is a really important aspect of its overall aesthetic so if your shoes are significantly
heavier and bulkier compared to the rest of the outfit then they can draw the eyes downwards and
become the focal point. That in turn will make the lower body appear heavier and shorter even.
So opt for thinner more slimline soles. Slides will go great with everything from dresses and
tailoring to casual looks and worn with a lovely pedicure these shoes will keep your feet cool and
comfy. If you prefer wearing a closed toe shoe look for shoes with breathable insoles that are
removable and washable. If you don't like showing your toes then you could try a slingback version
which gives you the best of both worlds, hiding your toes but giving you some airflow.
I'm sure you know the Coco Chanel quote, before you leave the house look in the mirror and take
one thing off. Well maybe in the summer it should be take two or three things off. Overloading on
accessories can make you feel hot and bothered and just weighed down so choose your accessories
to complement your outfit without overwhelming it. Embrace a minimalist mindset when it comes
to accessories during the hot weather. Choose things that serve a practical purpose as well as
adding some style so for example you could opt for a wide brim hat to protect your face from the sun
or you could choose lightweight scarves that can double as belts or wraps and of course the
ultimate summer accessory is sunglasses which effortlessly elevate your summer outfits. The key
is to strike a balance between style and comfort when it comes to wearing accessories in hot weather.
You want to choose functional pieces that enhance your outfit without making you feel overheated or
weighed down. Pairing the right colours together can make an outfit but if you put the wrong colours
together you could end up looking like a Christmas elf or a fast food restaurant. Yellow is a lovely
colour for summer but with red it ends up looking like Ronald McDonald. If you take away the red and
stick with white and yellow the outfit all of a sudden looks fresh and vibrant. Colour pairing can
be difficult to navigate but in summer if you're unsure then stick with one colour and pair it with
white. It works with most colours, white and pink, white and blue, green, red, orange. You know a mistake
that lots of ladies are guilty of in the summer, including myself, is avoiding bright colours. It's
the perfect time to try different colours but if you're not used to wearing them and maybe a little
bit nervous to try then just try the gradual approach and just ease yourself in gently. Begin
by incorporating pops of colour through the accessories like adding a really beautiful vibrant
bag or bold shoes. Now just like I mentioned before you could try pairing bright colours with neutral
tones which allows the colours to stand out while still having a sense of sophistication. But if
you're really uncomfortable in bright colours just ease into it by starting with softer pastel shades
and as you become more comfortable you could just gradually introduce bolder and brighter hues into
your outfits. If you really want to embrace that kind of carefree spirit of summer then avoid wearing
tight fitting clothes that are just going to highlight the areas that you'd rather downplay.
Instead of wearing tight fitting clothes you could wear flowy and lightweight dresses in beautiful
breathable fabric like cotton or linen in styles like maxi dresses or a-line dresses or even shirt
dresses. They're really comfortable but they give you that freedom of movement. You could wear tops
that have a relaxed fit like loose t-shirts or blouses which can keep you cool but still allowing
that air circulation around your body. Instead of tight jeans or leggings go for wide leg pants or
that have that lovely breezy silhouette or skirts with an a-line or a flared silhouette are a bit
more comfortable in hot weather and instead of tight jackets go for lightweight kimonos or
cardigans that can be layered over your outfits. They'll provide you some coverage without the
constriction of tight clothing. In the winter when we're more covered up it's easier to overlook the
fit and the condition of our underwear but in the summer when clothes are lighter and a little bit
more revealing it's crucial that we pay attention to visible bra straps and vpl if we want to look
polished and put together. So is it time to have an underwear overhaul? We always think about
refreshing our wardrobes during seasonal transitions but our underwear deserves equal
attention so now is the perfect opportunity to dig through your underwear drawers and assess their
condition. If you've bought new things for the summer season have you got the right underwear
to wear with it? Things like nude slips, seamless knickers or strapless bras which often go forgotten
in our lingerie drawers during the cold seasons. So get organised, schedule that underwear overhaul
and write a list of what you need and what needs to be updated so you're fully prepared for a
well-dressed summer with no underwear mishaps. And don't forget if you would like to try Skin & Me
you can use my code to get your first daily doser for just £4.99. It's all linked below for you.
