Vietnamese folk games and crafts: Bamboo Dragonfly

From the familiar material of Vietnamese villages, bamboo, through the skilful hands of craftsmen, dragonflies of all colours and sizes were born, becoming a folk toy.
To have a bamboo dragonfly, you have to go through many stages: raking the bamboo, drying it, cutting and dividing each part of the wings, body, and beak, sharpening the curved beak, assembling the wings into the body and finally painting. The most difficult part is to put the wings on the body so that the dragonfly can land on the tree firmly and in balance.
As part of the "Summer" learning theme, artisans and uncles visited the school and guided the children to make their beautiful bamboo dragonflies.
