Pumpkin spice latte season is here,
and in case you didn't know,
it's actually really easy to make
your own pumpkin spice latte at home.
Today, I'm going to show you two different ways to make it
using home-brewed coffee and natural sweeteners
for a delicious seasonal drink that you can enjoy anytime.
The first way we're going to make it is on the stovetop.
To get started, you'll need a half cup of milk,
and I'm using almond milk today to keep this dairy-free.
You'll also need a half cup of brewed coffee,
one tablespoon of pumpkin puree,
a quarter teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice,
and I have directions on my website
for making your own pumpkin pie spice at home,
and one tablespoon of pure maple syrup.
Whisk that all together in a small saucepan
over medium-high heat until the liquid starts to simmer.
You can adjust the flavoring to taste,
adding more pumpkin pie spice or more coffee
or a little more maple syrup for a sweeter flavor.
Serve this warm right away with your favorite toppings.
You can also skip heating this up altogether
and serve it as an iced drink instead.
The second way we're going to make this latte
is with a blender.
This is my preferred method
because the latte has a stronger coffee flavor
and you don't need any specialty milks to get started.
In a blender, you'll combine one cup of black coffee,
one tablespoon of pumpkin puree,
one teaspoon of almond butter,
which adds creaminess without using milk,
a quarter teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice,
and one tablespoon of maple syrup
or two pitted Medjool dates
if you want to make this drink fruit-sweetened.
Blend it all together until it's smooth and creamy,
and then it's ready to serve right away.
If you have a high-speed blender,
you can pour it directly into your mug
or you can pour it through a fine mesh strainer
to catch any pieces that the blender might have missed.
This latte is just as delicious
as the kind you'd buy at a coffee shop,
and you can even add whipped cream
and an extra sprinkle of spice
if you want to make it look extra fancy.
I hope you'll enjoy this healthy pumpkin spice latte soon,
