Hi, I'm Dr. Lynn Slater, and until about two weeks ago, I was a full-time professor, but
I'm also a fashion blogger and Instagram person called Accidental Icon.
My style is always changing. It's an elegant but edgy sort of look. I've been experimenting with
color, and so the heels on these shoes are just perfect. Subtle, but give it that pop that I need.
I love this dress by Sandro because of the detailing that makes it a little bit more edgy
Playing with my pop of color, I have this very lightweight, amazing jacket by Bupala. For me,
my signatures are always my earrings and my sunglasses, and so these are just perfect
additions. We've got the rich, rich cobalt in the earrings, and then these adorable cat eyes
are from Chloe, and I just love the way that the color fades and those all sorts of fabulous
things. To enhance a little bit of edge, I have this fabulous vintage skull ring from Paris.
The bag by Primary New York is a bright blood red orange, and I think that describes it perfectly.
My Apple Watch is an absolute necessity because I have every amount of data on it that I need
to make sure I know where I'm going today, that I'm taking care of my body today, that I am not
having to pull out my phone and be on it every second. You can look at how many Instagram likes
very secretly, and so that kind of goes with my cool edge a bit, like, oh, who cares how many
likes, and then I'm looking. Hey, my name's Eli, and I'm a creative out of the Bronx, New York,
and I would categorize my style as something in between classic and streetwear. I'm always
looking for heritage pieces, pieces that kind of stand the test of time. My shoes are from
They're a hybrid between a Converse and a Nike. I'm always looking for my friends that are local
designers that can make something different. My pants are from Jay Lindbergh. Right now,
I'm feeling a lot of the 70s flow of fashion. They're flowy, and I mean, it's the summertime
right now, so I can't really be doing anything that's extremely tailored because I'll just be
sweating my life away. This vest is from Renoma in Paris. I got this from a vintage store. I like
mixing tailored pieces with workwear or anything that's just a little bit more, that has a little
bit more grit, if anything, and so when I found this leather vest, I was like, I definitely need
it. Even this touch up here, right here, I don't, it didn't come with the vest. I'm always in Home
Depot, and I'm always just finding a bunch of different stuff that I can kind of add to my
clothes. My tee is from Jay Lindbergh. If I'm not in a suit, if I'm not in tailored wear, I'm usually
in white t-shirt, denim jeans, so white tees are always, like, something that complements my
wardrobe. I got these in LA, and the reason I got these were because one of my favorite movies is
The Professional, and everyone always says that I look like The Professional walking down the street,
and I'm like, you know what? I feel you. You're right, and when I put them on, I was like, you
know what? It feels good. It goes back to the idea of, like, just classic pieces that I can see myself
wearing 10 years from now, 20 years from now. I like to collect watches, not necessarily the most
expensive watches, but just watches, again, that give me that classic feel. The watch that I'm
wearing right now is a Zodiac watch. It's an Olympus-style watch, but that was a watch that
was very prominent in the 50s, 60s. My rings are by one of my friends at a brand called George
Frost. All their pieces are inspired by some form of historical, you know, references, so, like, my
rings are inspired by the Conquistadors. My other ring, it has a compass on it, and so my log is
north of man, and the logo itself is a compass because it's always about the progression and
just moving north for style and for just men in general caring for themselves. This is a pouch
that I throw on just because I have a lot of stuff in my pockets. I keep it all in the pouch simply
just because it just feels better when I'm sitting down. I'm always thinking about the process that
it takes to even get big in this world, so I'm always looking to highlight people that are doing
something awesome. The most meaningful pieces for me are the ones that I've either bought or that a
friend made, but for the most part, I've bought almost all of my friend's stuff. If all my homies
are watching this, I still got your stuff in my closet. My name is Kelly Augustine. I'm from the
Bronx, New York, and I'm a content creator and shop owner. I've really dedicated myself to
supporting independent artists, so a lot of the stuff that I own is from very small, small
businesses. I don't usually shop at department stores, but when I do, it's always for shoes.
The shoes I'm wearing today retail for $50. My captain is from Brooklyn Botanica. She's a really,
really small shop based out of Brooklyn. This is a one-of-a-kind item, and I love that she also
supports women, and, you know, she's working in Colombia. I just really love to give her my
business when I can. My bag is from Lothar Randall. I have been eyeing this bag for so long, and I
finally caught it on sale. It retailed on sale for $145. My sunglasses are from Marche Rudi.
They're a small shop also in Brooklyn on Bedford, and they mostly have designers that are Black.
I'm all for a simple statement, as much of an oxymoron as that sounds, and I got this collar
from Kenneth J. Lane, and it retails for about $60. My hoops are from The Pretty Bull, also a small
company, and they retail about $40. I'm also more likely to support a brand and spend a little bit
more money if I know where it's coming from. Like, I know who sewed this garment. I know, like, the
girl is sitting in her apartment hammering my earrings. Like, that kind of stuff, I have no
problem spending a little bit of money on.
