The coronation of King Charles III in Britain was undoubtedly a magnificent occasion.
While all eyes were on the new King and Queen, Charles III and Camilla,
it was not surprising that some of the attendees attracted attention for their attire,
both positively and negatively.
While some of the guests wowed us with their stunning outfits and spot-on choices,
some other guests left us scratching our heads wondering what they were thinking.
So, grab your popcorn and get ready for a fashion extravaganza
as we let's unveil the best and worst dressed guests at this historic event.
Queen Ronia.
The Queen wore a custom marred Tamara Ralph dress,
which was a pastel shade of lemon yellow and made of silk crepe material.
The tailored pencil dress featured an off-shoulder bow collar that had a structured design.
Queen Letizia.
The Queen's entirely pink outfit, designed by Carolina Herrera,
consisted of a long-sleeved top with peplum detailing,
delicate lace panels and button-down features.
The matching pencil skirt in the same vibrant pink shade she wore a stylish wide-brimmed hat
and paired the outfit with matching pink shoes and a clutch purse.
Lady Helen Taylor.
The late Queen Elizabeth II's second cousin Lady Helen Taylor wowed with her ladylike
Dior ensemble in a black and white bolero jacket, flat-brimmed hat and Dior heels.
Lady Louise Windsor.
The daughter of Countess of Wessex chose a beautiful dress with a blue and white pattern
from Cisner London, which was complemented by a headpiece,
which was meticulously hand-dyed to match her dress,
added to the elegance of her overall ensemble.
Macenat Mahatos Yeso, Queen of Les Soutous.
The Queen wore a stinning-pull blue gown that had a subtle print.
The fleur-length dress had a sweeping neckline and delicate button sleeves,
which added to its elegance.
To complement her outfit, the Queen wore a white-feathered blue fashionator,
which matched her white clutch.
Pippa Middleton, for the occasion, selected a bespoke coat dress in a unique yellow shade.
It had long sleeves, sleek lapels,
and was paired perfectly with delicate heels and a simple clutch bag,
both in a matching pastel-yellow hue.
To complete her outfit, she wore a matching headpiece.
Finnegan Biden.
The granddaughter of U.S. President Joe Biden donned a buttermilk yellow silk crepe dress
and cape from American designer Marquerie & Sommer, along with a matching headband.
The buttermilk yellow roses on the dress
and cape represented the official flower of Washington, D.C.
Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wore a stinning white dress
created exclusively for her by Dutch designer Jan Taminio.
The dress was intricately hand-embroidered with floral details along the neckline
and cinched at the waist with a belt.
Queen Maxima completed her look with nude leather heels and a coordinating clutch,
as well as a matching headpiece and statement drop earrings from the Stuart Tiara.
Queen Jetsun Pima of Bhutan looked elegant in a version of her country's national costume,
wearing an elegant tupis in a beautiful shade of lavender.
In the Dzongkha language, Bhutan is known as Drakil,
which translates as the land of the thunder dragon,
which is why her husband is often referred to as Dragon King.
Zara Tindall, the granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and daughter of Princess Anne,
stood out in her striking blue coat dress by Laura Green,
which was paired with a coordinating fluffy pompom hat and shoes.
She accessorized with her mother's diamond brooch.
Lady Gabriella Kingston looked absolute less stinning in her perfectly tailored
hot pink midi dress, featuring pointed lapels,
button-down detailing, and exaggerated 80s-style shoulders,
all cinched at the waist with a belt.
She accessorized it with a wide-brimmed hat adorned with a floral corsage,
nude heels, and a pastel pink clutch bag.
Princess Kiko of Japan.
Crown Princess Kiko followed tradition by wearing a light beige silk kimono with an
embroidered belt, pairing her kimono with a pale yellow clutch and getter-style shoes.
Pop star Katy Perry appeared to be trying too hard to fit in at the Very British event,
as her lilac outfit with opera gloves and a giant hat made her stand out for the wrong reasons.
However, she did wear a Vivienne Westwood necklace that paid tribute to British design.
Thompson's fashion choices were not without criticism.
She wore a black dress with a low neckline underneath her red floral flalength coat,
which was deemed too much for the occasion and not appropriate for a royal event.
Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie's fashion choices were criticized.
Her outfit received negative attention as it looked too 1980s and contained too many shades
of blue. Her blue-printed midi dress was deemed too casual for such a significant event,
and her jacket did not complement her outfit or the occasion.
By a country kilometre, the worst-dressed at the coronation was Conservative MP Therese Coffey.
Her Union Jack Prince calf was the cherry on top of a truly terrible outfit,
flying the flag far too literally. With her red hat, white jacket, navy dress and black bag and
shoes, some commentators suggested she looked like a mascot for the UK, but not one anyone would
choose. Akshata Murthy, the wife of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, wore baby blue jacquard
dress with puff sleeves to the coronation. However, her outfit failed to and her choice
of a black headpiece and stilettos dulled down the outfit, and commentators suggested that it
lacked the luster required for a king's coronation. Dame Joanna Lumley didn't quite hit the mark with
her outfit. Her navy coat with a large white Peter Pan collar was too reminiscent of a sailor's
uniform. The navy tights and flat shoes made the outfit appear too casual, and the white hat looked
more like a costume piece than a fashion accessory. The First Lady of the United States fell short of
expectations. Although the blue collar of her Ralph Lauren dress complemented her skin tone,
the dress had a cross-suit design that appeared more appropriate for a space-themed event than a
formal occasion. Princess Catherine's long silver gown was ill-fitting and lacked any personal or
meaningful regalia to represent her country. The dress didn't do justice to her stature and was
similar to Katy Perry's outfit in its beaufit. Most of the wives of former Prime Ministers seemed
to opt for a casual and laid-back look for the coronation, and Samantha Cameron was no exception.
She arrived at the event wearing a floral meady dress that would have been perfect for a casual
gathering, but it didn't seem formal enough for such a significant and historic event.
Princess Charlene's choice of a monochromatic outfit did not flatter her, and the unconventional
cut of the suit made her appear disheveled. Additionally, her choice of hat and hairstyle
did not complement the overall look, resulting in an unbalanced appearance.
