Pitch to Burt is in for a strike. Burt tossed the bat but now we'll have to go pick it up and
await the payoff. Payoff and that one misses. Oh and Burt's been tossed! He tossed the bat back and
it was right in the direction of Ben Wilson. So I've made a lot of videos over the years and
anytime there's a video that revolves around an umpire there's usually a lot of hate directed
at them. Now I will say as a hitter it's usually justified and I never really became friends with
any umpires because in my mind if I didn't swing at it it was a ball. So if you call it a strike
we're no longer friends. But in this video I happen to agree with the umpire. Let me know
what you think in the comment section below. So let's break down the situation. We have a 3-1
count on the batter and there's a fastball that's close. Is it a little bit off the plate? Maybe a
tiny bit. We don't have an angle directly behind the pitcher here. I don't think this is an egregious
call. I think it's close and if it was called a strike on me I might say that might be a little
bit off. But I don't think I'm flipping my bat on this. So the hitter flips his bat so clearly thinks
it's a ball. Now he's gonna give a slow walk over and look back at the umpire. We don't know if he
says anything but he gives him a little bit of a stare. Now here's the very next pitch. The 3-2
pitch. It's a breaking ball. It's clearly a ball for ball four. Hitter goes to flip his bat almost
hits the umpire and is ejected. Now let's go back and take a look at this flip because I've got a
couple of things here. The first thing is never in my career have I ever gone to flip a bat on a walk
and flipped it at the umpire. Never ever ever has that happened. Now the hitter right here after he
gets ejected he says why and then he pointed his hand. Now the only logical thing I can think of
is that he's saying I've got pine tar on my my hand and on my bat and when I went to flip the bat
it stuck to my hand somehow and didn't go in the direction that I wanted it to go in. But again
I've used pine tar every single year of my career and unless this guy uses the most pine tar in the
history of baseball I don't think it's going to stick that much if the bat literally goes in the
opposite direction in which you're trying to flip it. Now the umpire if he doesn't move here he kind
of has to step off to the side. If he doesn't move that bat's going to hit him. Now is it going to
hurt him? I don't think so. It's probably going to hurt a little bit but umpires aren't going to be
happy when bats are being flipped at them and to me it's a little too coincidental that we happen
to have a bad call and a stare back at the umpire 30 seconds before the bat is flipped directly at
him. So I think the umpire's justified here for tossing the hitter out of the game and I know
he's surprised but I don't buy it. I still think he did it on purpose. Did he try to hit him? I'm
purposely flip the bat somewhere in the area of the umpire because he wasn't happy about the
previous call. So let me know what you think in the comment section below. Do you think the hitter
meant to do it? Do you think the umpire should have thrown the batter out? Like I said this time
I'm siding with the umpire. Let me know in the comment section below. Subscribe to the channel.
