Guardians vs. Orioles Game Highlights (5/29/23) | MLB Highlights

Tyler Wells will be making the start for the Baltimore Orioles today still in a short porch with a big fence line to left and that will get down for a base hit. And Steven Kwan is a board to start the game. That's a four game hitting streak now for Kwan. Here's Rosario Rosario right back off the glove of Wells. He goes to second inadvertently dropped by the shortstop Mateo. That was a bad idea. Yeah by Wells he should have taken the easy out at first. The Guardians though are in business now with two on and nobody else. So here's Ramirez and Ramirez pops up a change up here and back of third. Urias will make the catch. The infield fly was on and the ball was in fair territory. So a big first out to clear Ramirez. That'll get the cleanup hitter of the plate Josh Naylor who strikes on Josh Naylor McCann wants it up again and Naylor swings right through it. Three straight elevated fast fastballs and three straight swinging strikes and that'll get Gabriel Arias to the plate runners on the move. Arias drags one to short Mateo goes to first and Wells gets out of it. Logan Allen coming off a really good start for him. Unfortunately he took the loss in it but he was excellent. And Mullins draws a walk. That's not the guy you want to walk. There he goes. He wasted no time to throw it out. It's a good one and he got him. Mullins caught for only the second time this year. And now Austin Hayes swing and a miss Logan Allen strikes him out to down Anthony Santander. Anthony shoots a ground ball up the middle and through comes Ryan Mountcastle Mountcastle with the fly ball to center racing in Miles Straw. He's there hitting over no score after one no score two down Jose Ramirez. There's a ball hit toward right center field that'll get down cut off by McKenna Ramirez going for two. The throw is not in time and a hustle double. Jose Ramirez with two out here in the third inning. That's his 14th double of the year. Now Josh Naylor seven straight high fastballs. There's an eight the helmet just barely stayed on this time. No score. Santander leads off the bottom of the fourth for Baltimore swing and a miss tied him up with a good fastball at six K's for Logan Allen to Ryan Mountcastle. That's why he'll get after him. High throw from Rosario on an absolutely routine play. Now Rios steps in slow chopper to third charging or Arias goes to second for the force. What an aggressive play but a perfect throw to Jimenez to record the out on the lead runner two down and it's two down for James McCann. And McCann that could be an extra base hit. We'll see if it'll get a run in Ramone Arias going to third. He's going to be stopped right there by Tony Mancellito. Steven Kwan got to the ball very quickly but James McCann slashes a double toward the left field corner with two on and two out. First runners in scoring position for the Orioles for Adam Frazier. He got him. What a job by Logan Allen. Guardians have stranded three runners in scoring position through the first four frames by Latroy Hawkins as that ball is fair inside the shock. He's on his way to second base and Will Brennan. He's two for two with two doubles on the afternoon. A Bach gets Will Brennan to third base. Gallagher with a high center field should be plenty. Absolutely. Brennan tags Cedric Mullen's throw me the cannon. Nowhere close in the Guardians lead in one to nothing. RBI number five for Cam Gallagher and Will Brennan. Here's the pitch. A high fly from Rosario into left field. We'll find the glove of Hayes who squeezes it. The Guardians get the first run. No one has reached since McCann's double in the fourth inning. Tired five straight as Santander digs in. And Anthony will drill one of the left and he has two of the Orioles three hits in the game. That ball was smashed. Logan Allen a look at first. Arias with a diving stop throws from his knees to get one the relay not in time but that was a spectacular play by Gabriel Arias. We haven't seen him at third in quite a while but I got to tell you something he's shades of Brooks here in this ballpark. Accused you of hyperbole. No that was Brooks Robinson Lloyd and another strong shutout inning of work. Tyler Wells was dominant but he turns it over to the bullpen. The left hander C.N.L. Perez. Oh the plate the Baltimore chop. It's in Vogue and Myles Straw has himself an infield hit. The batter will Trent Brennan ground ball base hit right field. How about Will Brennan. He's three for three on the day. Myles Straw had to stop at second. Now Cam Gallagher. Oh he finds the hole shoots it into right field. Straw's going to be waved around third. Here's the throw to the plate. So Cam Gallagher with his second run batted in of the afternoon. It's two nothing guardians. It's an elevated fastball but he stayed on it and just found the hole between first and second. Take what is given and Myles got a good jump. He outruns the ball to home plate and they add on. It's a two nothing ball game. And now Kwan shoots one up the middle and that's going to go through. Brennan's going to score on his way to third as Gallagher Kwan hustling in the second base. It's a hustle RBI double and the guardians lead is two to another three to nothing. Well they're finding the holes. He gets enough of that ball was down the middle but it had some top spin to it and it bounces through into center field. One more would look pretty good on the docket too would be great. And a ground ball backhanded they come home with a throw and it gets by Gallagher scores. Here comes Kwan he'll score as well. Rosario down to second base and the Guardians strike for a pair with aggressive base running and their lead is five to nothing. Time of the order Cedric Mullins two walks a strikeout Mullins left side Rosario flags it down and that hesitation he get hurt he's still got a Mullins pulled up. I think he heard a quad he pulled up right in front of the base he would have beat it out easily but he chopped his steps at the end and that's horrible news. This is about as troubling a player to get hurt as anybody in the Orioles. Cedric Mullins has been arguably the Orioles best all around player this season and Mullins will head to the locker room. Boy that is a really really tough site. They're going to need to put together five in the ninth and that ball drilled fair into the right field corner. Good start to the inning. Santander will get there standing. Need five to tie. Now it's Ron Montcastle's turn and Ryan Mountcastle hits a sharp ground ball in the center field. So three hits for the Orioles in the first eight innings two hits in the first two batters of the nine Ramona Reyes next shallow left. That's going to be caught on the run and the runners have to hold and we're going to get a pinch hitter now for the catcher James McCann. This will be Gunner Henderson strong out and missed. He struck him out as big for Trevor Stephon two down ball the first nailer will take it himself. Book it. The Guardians come to Baltimore. They've won three out of their last four. They take the series opener from the O's and go to twenty four and twenty nine on the year with a five to nothing shutout win. Logan Allen the winning pitcher he is two and two now on the season.
