Hello Little Listeners,

Today I’m reading: “Aesop's Fables”

These classic tales of memorable and adorable creatures learning right from wrong are the perfect way to introduce children to concepts of conscience, kindness, and empathy.

Who knows about Aesop? (Apologies I mispronounce his name - it’s pronounced EE-Sop)

Aesop was a Greek fabulist rom around 570 BCE. He was a former slave credited with inventing the genre we now call fables.
It was said that he was mute, a devout man and one who respected the will of the gods. His pious respect is what eventually freed him from his muteness.

The story goes that one day, Aesop helped a lost priestess of the Goddess Isis who had strayed from the road. Once he helped guide them back to safety, Isis and the Muses repaid him for this act of kindness by granting him the ability to create clever and meaningful stories in Greek. Like a character from one of his fables, he acted morally and was rewarded for it.

The board book is illustrated by Charles Santori and contains these fables:

1. The Hare & the Tortoise
2. The Lion and the Mouse
3. The Fox and the Grapes
4. The Fox and the Crow
5. The Monkey as King
6. The Town Mouse… …and the Country Mouse
7. The Grasshopper and the Ants
8. The Vain Jackdaw
9. The Eagle and the Crow
10. The Bear and the Bees
11. The Crab and His Mother
12. The Heron

Thanks and see you next time.
