GHANA TRAVEL VLOG PT. 2 | Celebrating NYE & Cape Coast Trip

Hey guys, Paige, welcome back to my channel! Hey guys, so I feel like I have really just been popping in and out. That's because so much has been going on and I am exhausted at this point. It is day six here in Ghana and it is also New Year's Eve, y'all! I can't believe it, I'm so excited. I am so ready for 2022 to wrap it up, y'all. As you know, 2022 was a very challenging year for you girls, so I am really looking forward to 2023 and all that it has to bring and just for a fresh start, you know? And I'm super excited to be celebrating the new year here in Ghana. I've been having so much fun. Yesterday, we didn't get in until like five o'clock in the morning and today I slept in until 2 p.m. I've never slept that late in my life. That just goes to show you how exhausted I am. But yeah, I am prepared for it to be another very long night or early morning for us because people usually stay out really, really, really late. So maybe we'll end up on the beach or something. Yeah, we also have to get up pretty early because we are headed to Cape Coast tomorrow at like 10 a.m. So yeah, it might be one of those from the party to the car situation. I don't want to fall. I'm so scared. We just finished a very long car ride. How long was the car ride? About three hours. Probably a little over. So we have to go north to go to this national park. Yes, and we are in Cape Coast now. So yeah, we're gonna actually be out here for a couple of days. We have a hotel out here. I'm just exploring another part of Ghana, which is really cool. Yeah, I think the first thing we're gonna do is walk on this canopy. A few years ago, your girl probably wouldn't have been doing this, but I have overcome my fears. This will be our second one together. I've overcome my fears of bridges. So we're gonna power through this. Like round trip? So the price is $35 for Ghanaians, $100 for non-Ghanaians, which is about $10 to $15. I don't think I've showed y'all some of the currency yet, but I have been having to use cash for two of these some days. Getting extra cash is enough. Oh, is this $100? That's literally all I've borrowed. Goodness. Y'all, this area that we're in has so many lizards. Oh my gosh. And they're like big ones, little ones, all different sizes. Oh my gosh. Obviously, I'm not a nature girl, but you know what? Fake it till you make it. Okay. What does it actually look like? Oh no, strawberry flavored skimmed yogurt. Oh gross. Is it like a bar, I wonder? The only thing that seems somewhat familiar are these little ice creams. Is that yogurt? It's strawberry flavored ice cream. I want like a popsicle or something. But I don't want yogurt. Oh. I honestly have no clue at this point But we are, thank you We are in Cape Coast right now As you all saw yesterday We took a van 3 hours to Cape Coast And now we are at the Lemon Beach Resort It's so nice I really love this resort Cute little huts you can stay in Yeah, we are right on the beach So that's lovely as well We are up early About to have breakfast And then we are going to go visit the Elmina Castle And the Cape Coast Castle And possibly a boat ride as well So yeah, stay tuned Do you want tea or no? Love it So we just finished the tour Very emotional, very deep Once again so important to learn Now we are at the market The girls are shopping I honestly haven't bought anything But postcards on this trip Considering getting waist beads I used to wear waist beads for years And I haven't in a while It would be kind of cool to get some Waist beads from Ghana Just got some waist beads Okay y'all so I actually did buy something I got some beautiful waist beads I'm so excited The way that they have them on They're like tightened with a string So I can't really ever take them off unless I cut them Whereas my old waist beads they had like a screw So you could take them off and on But I think it's kind of cool that they are on there As long as I want them to be Hello In 1665 some of your soldiers Went there to protect the descents So they did not become slaves Here are some of their cannons Hey guys so it is our last morning Here in Cape Coast We're actually going to be heading back to Accra In just a few hours Maybe even less than that Yesterday as you saw We visited two slave castles We went to the Cape Coast Castle And the Elmina Castle It was definitely an emotional experience A heavy experience Just to see where our ancestors suffered In these cells, in these dungeons It was definitely Very difficult to see But as I always say Still very important to see and important to learn So I'm really really glad we went After that We went to some of the markets I ended up getting waist beads A lot of the other girls went crazy with the shopping I got my postcards for my collection So I'm happy But like I said shortly we will be heading back to Accra It's like a three hour ride back We have a day party That we bought tickets for today So hopefully we're not too exhausted And can have fun at that With day parties you really don't have to get there When they start at like 3pm You can get there 6, 7, you know For some of them so We'll make it there eventually But yeah I think this trip has been like a good mixture Of like partying Cause you know there's a lot of partying That goes on here But also education And learning and experiences Like visiting the castles and doing the canopy walk And cool stuff like that So really really really been having a good time And I can't believe I was able to bring in the new year I can't believe it's January I don't think it's really going to set in Until I get back to London But yeah check in with you guys later Hey guys Initially made it back to Cape Cod again And we just checked in to our new hotel Our last final hotel Labadi Beach That's what it's called right Labadi Beach And we're currently at the pool Just chilling Until it's time to head out Cause we partying again y'all Partying again So this man almost hit us with his car I did the little skrt skrt And my sandal broke One of the people Directing traffic took the shoe And he said he gonna handle it So if he come back with a fixed shoe He's a magician But yeah my sandal just broke Right before we go inside The club If your body shake I'm hypnotised Yeah I don't wanna lie But watch the line yeah Baby no you fine come through tonight Yeah Long as I'm alive I'll make you mine If your body shake I'm hypnotised Yeah Baby just give me, give me, give me Gimme that, gimme, gimme, gimme Gimme that, gimme, gimme Gimme, gimme, gimme Gimme that, gimme Get me get me get me, get me get me You, you go right for me baby, come closer I'm in love, say baby you got devotion You, you go right for me baby, come closer I'm in love, say baby you got devotion As they take care of us, showing us love This whole past year It's a lot of people A lot of restaurants, a lot of clubs, a lot of people like Black Volta that worked out for us and made this place feel like home over the past year. The trip feels like it went by fast and slow at the same time but I think 10 days is like the sweet spot. Like we didn't eat anymore or any less. But yeah, the last couple of days have just been real chill ones. Just went to the pool yesterday. Went out for a little bit. Like out out. Today we went for brunch and then we went back to the art center. I actually bought some more stuff. I got some earrings. I got some more waist beads. I got ankle bracelets. So I'm pleased. We're gonna be heading to the airport shortly. We have such a long journey. 17 and a half hours to be exact. Because we have a 6 and a half hour layover in Turkey. So it should be fun. Okay y'all, so I just purchased my final souvenir at the airport just now. I got this keychain and the symbol means accept God or nothing but God. Basically just saying you should fear nothing over God. Love it so much. Bye.
