Why is it important at all to repot plants? 🙂⠀

➡️Soil compaction - by repotting you are providing fresh non-compacted soil, with plenty of oxygen for the roots. Roots absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide.⠀

➡️To replenish nutrients. Plants use nutrients from the soil for their growth and development. Each plant will require different amounts of different nutrients. After a while, the potting mix will become deficient in one or more nutrients. As soon as the soil gets deficient in one nutrient, this prevents it from growing to its full potential.

➡️On the other hand, mineral salts accumulate in soil over time from tap water and fertilizer which can damage the roots. Which is why you should occasionally (for example once a month) flush out excess mineral salts from the soil.

➡️Another potential problem is that one part of the soil (old soil) will stay dry too long, while the other part (new soil) will stay wet for too long (or vice versa).⠀
