Now, let's get started with your favourite show.
You little kitty, I think you need to go and brush your teeth.
As your breath is smelly and bad.
Hey friends, bad breath is a pretty common condition that occurs in all ages, even children.
But, it could be very embarrassing to see everyone around you trying to maintain a distance from us.
As if we are throwing flames from our mouth.
But, one good thing about bad breath is we can prevent it and even treat it.
So, in today's episode, let us enter the stinky-winky world of bad breath.
And find the answer to a grossy question.
What causes bad breath?
Zoom in!
In the medical world, bad breath is popular with a fancy name called Halitosis.
Humanity has been trying to fight the Halitosis monster since ages.
And has used various measures and techniques.
Like chewing twigs, cloves and even eggshells to get rid of it.
But the important question is, what causes it?
And why is it so disgustingly gross?
Well, before you blame your friend for eating that extra slice of onion with a sandwich.
We need to get inside their mouth's moist environment.
To find the real culprits living rent free.
And that is microorganisms and specifically bacteria.
But, don't you worry about these tenants my friends.
As these bacteria play a very crucial role in our body's biological functions.
Like digestion and fighting diseases.
But just like us, all day of activity exhausts them.
Making them hungry for food and their favorite menu includes mucus.
And food that remains stuck in your teeth, gums and tongue.
But as they can't eat those things directly.
They break down the food particles into smaller and simpler forms.
And this process of breaking down the food.
Releases the foul smelling compounds like Hydrogen Sulfide, Cadabrin and Methanol.
Finding the way out of your mouth in the form we call bad breath.
But the important question is, how do we save ourselves from this smelly monster?
Well, luckily it's easy to defeat it by merely brushing your teeth at least twice a day.
Flossing once a day and also cleaning your tongue too.
As bacteria can grow there as well.
Also, it is essential to visit your dentist regularly for checkups.
Not only will you get a thorough cleaning.
But the dentist will also examine your mouth for any potential problems.
Including those that can affect breath.
For example, gum disease, also known as periodontal disease.
Can cause bad breath and damage your teeth.
So, do not forget to take your dentist's appointment.
By the time we feature our next segment called..
Trivia Time!
Did you know, the way a person's breath smells can be a clue to their health condition?
Yes, for example, if a person has uncontrolled diabetes.
His or her breath might smell like Acetone.
The same stuff that's in a nail polish remover.
Also, diseases such as stomach infections, kidney and liver problems.
As well as sinuses can lead to the bad odour of the mouth.
But, don't worry my friends.
Generally, there are no complicated issues behind those stinky breaths.
And it occurs due to simple reasons like your eating habits.
And bad oral hygiene.
So, keep up with your brushing and flossing.
And you should be breathing easy and smell free.
