I think the whole game.
I don't think we trusted very well,
you know, to make Miss League and they were
15 for 35 from the three were eight for 34.
I would say we had a lot of wide open threes.
We didn't make them.
I didn't like how we played overall offensively though
down the stretch, you know, got to play for three big
fellow more didn't think the ball went there.
So I have to watch the film, but I just didn't think we
had a game of great trust tonight.
You know, I thought our guys all wanted to win.
They played that way.
And sometimes I think that gets in your way.
And I thought that happened tonight.
Just Tatum.
I mean, he had the same attempts in the first half.
He didn't make him made some tough shots.
He shook us loose a couple of times.
We double teamed twice
when we were not double teaming and then he was the
last guy open.
So I thought that the one got him going and then once
he got it going, it's hard to turn them off.
You know, they just had a lot of size in the paint,
you know,
James was good.
I mean, he was aggressive downhill.
I just didn't think
we had great ball movement as a team tonight.
We got to get back every time we do that.
We struggle
every time we play right.
We don't I thought tonight the ball didn't move a lot.
We got to move the ball.
We got to trust.
We got to run our stuff.
We got to execute our stuff.
I thought tonight
was was similar to like game two to me.
We just didn't trust our stuff.
Why do you think you struggle with the too big lineup?
Just ball movement,
you know,
I thought we did ball didn't move the first three or four
possessions,
you know,
I thought there were plenty opportunities to swing catch
get Joel the ball in the right spots on the elbow and
we just didn't do it.
So I'll watch the film and I'll give you a better answer
tomorrow,
but I didn't think we trust it.
It didn't matter what lineup.
We didn't score in any lineup tonight.
We struggled scoring.
Well, we knew we had to go through this team.
Nothing's changed,
you know,
and that's what they all were saying that
it wasn't a down locker room.
I mean, they were disappointed.
They lost the game,
but you didn't have a locker room of anybody feeling
defeated or anything like that.
I can guarantee you that
you have no choice,
you know,
you really don't,
you watch film,
you find areas where you can improve things that we didn't
do.
I thought we had a lot of self-inflicted
wounds tonight.
I think that those are easy to fix.
You get them ready and you know,
you can win there.
We've done that just like they've won here.
So, I mean,
we're confident,
just period.
We've been confident.
We were confident going into tonight,
but we didn't win the game
and they were confident too.
It's two teams trying to win,
right?
And so,
give them credit.
They won the game tonight.
They actually,
they will help everybody.
It'll help them too.
You know,
clearly,
they'll help big fella,
you know,
so that'll be a benefit to us.
It was a key,
you know,
I thought we took
some tough shots,
which means you don't have floor balance.
And when you take those shots and they get out and running,
you're in trouble.
One thing we have to do,
they wanted to have 18 fast break,
are the way we count them,
in the first half.
And then they had more in the second half.
Right now,
the transition game in this series
is the difference in all the games
and they had it tonight.
You rotated
Melton and George and PJ a lot.
Yeah,
stretch.
Was that simple offense-defense stuff?
Or was it something you were looking for?
Yeah,
simple offense-defense
at times.
And,
you know,
we put PJ on the floor.
We'll put him on the floor more when there's one big.
We'll put George or
Melton on the floor when there's two.
You know,
I thought,
you know,
Melton have a great offensive game.
He missed shots.
He'll,
he usually makes.
So,
we're not worried about him.
I was really happy for George.
I thought George competed
and did a terrific job defensively.
And the more we can play him on the floor,
it's just never a bad thing with him offensively.
So,
that was good for us.
Thanks,
guys.
You said offense?
Yes.
Yeah,
man.
We,
it took us a while to get into rhythm.
We started slow,
but we weathered their storm and we came together and
we took the lead multiple times and took the lead down the
stretch,
just couldn't hold on.
I think they got out in transition and made some shots.
We missed some.
Yeah,
that's,
yeah,
they made some threes and I think we missed,
we missed the majority of ours,
but
happens.
Yeah,
we have to adjust to it.
I mean,
especially with Robert Williams.
He's like,
you know,
he's standing in the paint tagging guys.
So,
you know,
he's cleansing whatever,
but he's in the paint.
So it's like in the paint is crowded.
So that was new for us.
But I mean,
we knew that we're going to do that.
We knew they were going to try it.
I think we'll be better next game.
Because they try to shoot threes in transition,
you know,
you're taught to get back and run to the paint and but you
have to,
you got to run to the paint,
but you also got to spray out because,
you know,
they're running to the three-point line.
They're driving to kick and to get threes and,
you know,
they put you in tough situations and you cross match and
different things like that.
So,
if I make three,
he wouldn't,
it got off.
Yeah.
Well,
I mean,
it kind of one thing led to another.
I'm not,
no blame,
but I mean,
yeah,
we,
yeah,
I missed.
It's a make a mistake.
I missed.
He hit the way he hit three in a row.
I don't know how many hit,
but I missed and then he hit,
I think in the corner,
he hit one on me,
a step back on me.
I got to get up,
get him inside too.
And then it was a switch at a,
I stepped on Mel's foot,
too much space for a good player like that.
And you know that once,
once he got a rolling,
it's tough man.
And you know,
we couldn't score.
We missed some shots.
I missed some shots.
I know I got to be better and make and make those that I got
the two that I got.
But we move on.
There's three games in a row now.
It's been as close as a series can be.
Doc keeps saying based on how many games there have been.
So now there have been six.
It's three,
three.
You look at the series holistically.
It's so tight.
You guys have been back and forth so much.
What have you learned over these last six games?
And how nice is it to know that you can really beat this team
when you're going to need to on Sunday?
Yeah,
I mean,
like you said,
the closest it could possibly be 3-3.
And you know what?
We've been in this situation before like vice versa my rookie
year.
So we got to go out here.
We got to fight.
It's going to be it's going to be a war and you know,
one thing I will say that is if I have to go to war on the
road game seven in Boston,
I want to go with this group,
you know,
I know we got some fighters.
I know we got some resilient guys and you know,
let's I'm ready to get it on.
Yeah,
I think sometimes my pressure bothers them,
you know,
I'm smaller.
I can get up under guys,
you know,
I got a few stops.
I was yeah,
man.
It's I,
you know,
I'm kicking myself because on the three I've been doing a
good job of forcing Tatum Brown white all of them inside the
three getting them off the line and instead of dancing with
him,
I should have forced him to his side and let him get inside
the three.
Take him down to Joe would and we could have scrambled
out of it.
But yeah,
today one more time.
Yeah,
like I said,
man,
honestly,
I wouldn't want to go to you know,
game seven in in Boston with any any other group.
I know we're going to rally.
We've rallied all year long around on the road and you
know,
we got a tough group.
We got a very very tough group and it's going to
be huge for us man.
This this this is,
you know,
it's one game one game,
you know,
we're not worried about nothing else.
Not worried about,
you know,
the future to pass.
It's one game in the present Sunday night or Sunday,
whatever time we play on Sunday and we got to go
out there and we got we got to fight our fight
our tails off man.
This is going to be a war.
It's going to be a battle.
Wasn't the rough side when you had to reshoot those
or when you had to shoot those free throws after
Joe?
I mean,
I guess I'm supposed to shoot him out.
We didn't know.
I mean,
I don't know that rule.
I'm honest.
I have no clue what the rule is.
I didn't know what was going on.
But I mean,
that was just a weird.
I was a weird scenario.
I mean,
but I mean,
I guess it didn't really change.
He made it to that.
I made too.
So,
thanks,
Reese.
I think it was three things.
We are a lot of wide open shots.
We didn't make them.
We start moving the ball.
And
I think I don't think I touched the ball the last
four minutes of the game.
You know,
like I said,
miss a lot of good
good looks.
I didn't touch the ball at all.
Can you talk about how the Celtics going double-base
affected you guys offensively?
We did.
We missed a lot of shots.
You know,
the shots that we would take
every single night,
you know,
we missed
a lot of wide open shots tonight
and
that made us pay for it.
I mean,
we
we only made eight threes and
then obviously that made,
you know,
15 of them.
I thought that's where
that's where the game was.
I think
I don't think we struggled to get me the ball.
I thought,
you know,
to start that fourth quarter.
I was aggressive and
got the ball and
we scored a few times on that
and then
I just think
no,
our offense kind of stalled a little bit.
We stopped moving the ball
and
we stopped making plays for each other
like we have been doing all night
and
you know,
that was a result of,
you know,
not getting good shots and
the ball,
you know,
not moving enough.
No,
I think we've been,
we've been pretty good all season
about,
you know,
those type of situations.
I just thought tonight
we were a little
little flat
because of
that shot making
in the fourth quarter.
I thought
instead of,
you know,
getting back to ourselves,
we just,
you know,
we started playing,
you know,
by ourselves
and,
you know,
in those situations,
you know,
we,
like I said,
we got to stick together
and
we got one more
and
honestly,
we,
you know,
we feel,
I feel pretty good
about it.
We just,
you know,
as a make or miss league
tonight
we miss a lot of good open looks
that we gonna make and
you just got to go to Boston and,
you know,
keep walking and,
you know,
knock those down.
No,
that's the key.
I mean,
I gotta say,
yeah,
we didn't move the ball.
The offense,
you know,
stalled and,
you know,
we pretty good when,
you know,
we moved the ball.
We play with each other and
the ball moves side to side.
We get into our sets.
You know,
we,
like I said,
I got to be,
you know,
more demanding
but
kind of went away from
what was walking at the beginning on that four-quarter.
Yeah,
but,
you know,
as a big,
it's hard to,
you know,
go get the ball and,
you know,
just create,
you know,
for yourself,
but,
you know,
I just,
I just got to go get it.
I mean,
between missed shots,
I thought the whole key was really,
they got a lot of runouts,
lucky bounces
on those missed shots.
They got a lot of opportunity to just get in transition and just attack early,
you know,
due to those misses and,
you know,
crashing the boards.
So,
like I said,
yeah,
make a miss late.
Feel pretty good about it.
I mean,
you know,
they make shots.
We just got to make sure we,
we're ready for Sunday,
you know,
big game for us,
you know,
game seven,
you know,
we love,
who doesn't love game seven.
So,
it's going to be exciting.
I mean,
we,
I thought we did a pretty good scrambling
tonight,
but,
that made,
that made a lot of tough shots,
you know,
for that,
and the way that started the game,
too.
We,
we didn't start the game.
We wanted to,
we didn't send the message that we're too comfortable,
you know,
Brighton coming off the bench,
made a,
you know,
you had 11 quick points in our first quarter and,
you know,
between,
you know,
the momentum,
time changing,
between,
you know,
the stupid ass goal tent,
you know,
those type of calls,
you know,
that,
that just can't happen.
You know,
that's,
this is the playoffs.
If you're going to make those type of calls,
you got to be sure about it,
and
that's just,
that's just not okay.
It didn't affect us.
I already answered it.
We didn't affect us.
We missed a lot of wide open looks tonight.
I'll take them.
Got to keep shooting them.
You know,
there's a reason why they went to that double B,
you know,
to have someone to protect the rim,
and he was pulling over,
every single time.
So that's where we got to have that trust and,
you know,
keep moving the ball and finding guys and,
you know,
trusting each other and,
you know,
keep taking those shots.
I thought we,
I thought we had a lot of good opportunities
and we just got to convert them.
I mean,
we know what,
you know what,
we know what we got to do.
We've,
you know,
we've gone on the road.
We've,
we've won.
It's not going to be easy in that environment,
but,
you know,
same thing,
you know,
got a good start,
better than we were tonight.
And
everybody has to step up,
starting with me.
You know,
I got to,
you know,
be,
you know,
be,
I guess I got to be more aggressive and,
you know,
as far as,
you know,
shooting and,
you know,
making sure I get,
you know,
my teammates open looks and,
and,
you know,
everybody else has to do their job and everybody has to
show up.
but it's going to be fun.
Game seven,
you know,
that's why you play,
you know,
for those type of games and
tonight was pretty tough,
but,
you know,
you,
we know how much
we could have been better,
miss a lot of good approach,
a lot of good
opportunities,
especially going into the fold up to
that made a lot of,
you know,
tough shots and
but that's the name of the game,
you know,
got to respond and
you know,
I got to go with
thanks,
Joe.
