Special thanks to Mr. Calogero ( [email protected] ) an experienced certified guide that made our trip even better!

We are in the Kingdom of the #Sirens, mythical creatures with the form of a woman and the body of a fish. Their sweet song continues to charm us even as it did in #Homer's time three thousand years ago.

The name Sorrento actually comes from the Sirens and here was the only #temple of the ancient #world dedicated to them. The unlimited #view, the bright blue of Italy, the aromas of #pizza, #limoncello and other local #delicacies, the smell of the #sea and the temperament of the locals will make your trip unforgettable. Sorrento has a unique way of captivating its #visitors completely!

Stay with us as we discover the city's #secrets, most impressive #sights and nearby #excursions.

We start with the old #town of Sorrento or CENTRO STORICO. From here begins the baptism in the #cosmopolitan #Mediterranean air that blows on the Sorrento #peninsula and will blow you away!
Lovely pastel #buildings and #mansions, winding streets, ecstatic visitors #walking and enjoying exploring the #historic quarter.

Corso #Italia is the main thoroughfare. #Fashion boutiques, #souvenir #shops, #restaurants and #bars gather here on the busy pedestrian #street.

Discover the little #alleys nearby full of picturesque corners and small #surprises. #Trattorias, #hotels and #guesthouses continue to compose the enchanting #scenery.
Sorrento is famous for Limoncello, a unique digestive #drink. Definitely try it!

#Tasso Square is dedicated to the famous poet #Torquato Tasso who was born in Sorrento. A bustling and sunny spot, ideal for enjoying an #espresso while watching the people go by.

Nearby lies the Vallone dei #Mulini, a green valley with ruins of an ancient sawmill, 2 rivers and a variety of rare vegetation.

The city's #cathedral or #Duomo dedicated to San Filippo and San Giacomo will impress you with its frescoes and bell tower
A little further down lies #Villa #Fiorentino with its park, art and exhibition space.
Next stop is #Piazza della Vittoria.

Villa #Comunale di Sorrento is a large seaside park perched atop Sorrento's famous cliffs with breathtaking views across the bay to #Vesuvius and #Naples. Popular #sunset destination. To the west there is an elevator that leads to the #port.
The church of San Francesco, famous for the #cloister and the Arab art courtyard with the arches.

Sant' #Antonino with the same name #basilica of the city's patron saint.
#Marina grande is a beautiful fishing village in pastel Italian colors in the west side. Stop here for some #seafood appetizers and the classic #gnocchi alla Sorrentina at one of the family-run tavernas that line the water's edge.

Marina# Piccola is the port from which boats and ferries depart for excursions to Capri, Naples, the Amalfi Coast, and the islands of #Ischia and #Procida.

On the nearby cape we find #Bagni #Regina Giovanna. Picturesque #Roman villa ruins with coastal views and secluded beach popular for swimming.

Neighboring Sant' #Agnello is an interesting alternative.

#Nearby excursions:
#CAPRI : One of the most popular destinations in Italy. A #beautiful #island that uniquely combines #luxury with simplicity.
Live the dolce vita and relax in #glamorous Capri. Sparkling waters, towering #cliffs, blue caves and a relaxed atmosphere.

#Amalfi Coast. The world-famous Italian coast stretches for 50 kilometers.
Steep #rocks, crystal clear waters picturesque buildings hanging high on top of each other amidst lemon and olive groves on the edge of the cliff. The settlements of #Positano and Amalfi stand out.
#Pompeii. The world famous ancient Roman city turned into ruins by the #eruption of Vesuvius two thousand years ago. A city of stunning beauty and advanced #technology that was buried in the ashes is revealed before your astonished eyes.
Sorrento, a magical part of Italy!
