THIS IS WHY Fans Shouldn’t Trash Talk The Golden State Warriors

On Sunday, January the 15th, the Warriors lost a heartbreaker against the Chicago Bulls.
I mean, they hoisted up 51 three-point shots and made 20 of them, shot just about 50% from the
field, out-rebounded the Bulls, had more assists, yet when the final buzzer sounded, they found
themselves down 14 points and ended the game with an L. Expending that much energy and taking
another L isn't the best way to spend a Sunday evening, but hey, it couldn't get any worse, right?
Well, wrong. Because the very next day, within 24 hours, they had another game against the
Washington Wizards, except they were tired, and they'd be without Klay Thompson, who doesn't play
tail-ends of back-to-back games. Well, come the next day, the Warriors had bruised bodies, didn't
have much life left in them, and to make things even more bleak, Draymond couldn't yell at the
refs because he's too technicals away from being automatically suspended a game. And with the way
the Warriors season is trending, the last thing they need is to be without their heart and soul.
The world seemed to be turning black and gray for the Warriors, that is, until these two fans
showed up. And thank god they did, because, well, let's just get right into it. So obviously, these
guys haven't really been following the Warriors, because if they're trying to help their team out
and get the Wizards a win, a trash-talking Steph Curry, Draymond Green, or any of the Warriors
usually doesn't turn out too good. I mean, remember when Kendrick Perkins tripped up Steph
and got in his face at the end of a third quarter finals game? Well, that led to Steph going 5-for-5
from 3 in the fourth quarter, and the Cavaliers could thank KP for that. Then, uh, remember when
Charles Barkley called Klay washed? Well, Klay went ahead and dropped like, what, 41 the very next
day or something, and also had a 50 game, and, uh, actually, since those words came out of Barkley's
mouth, Klay's been averaging about 24 points while shooting 42.5% from 3 and 91.5% at the
free throw line. Sheesh, guys. Anyway, the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr understands what happens
when trash-talking is directed towards his players, and this is what he thinks of it.
Yeah, what are you thinking when, uh, an opponent starts trash-talking Steph?
So, to continue what happened, on January the 16th, the Warriors were in Washington visiting
the White House, and they were also visiting the Wizards at Capital One Arena. Like I said,
the Warriors were sluggish from the road trip and the game from the night before.
By the end of the third quarter, Draymond wasn't having a good game at all. I mean, 6 points,
4 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals isn't good for his standards going into the fourth,
then on top of that, he was minus 10 in the box plus minus at this point. Then,
to compound onto that, Chris Stapp's Porzingis, who was a big part of Green's assignment,
was also going off. I mean, the 7'3 unicorn had a 25 point half, and, uh, Draymond couldn't slow
him down one bit. All in all, Draymond looked like he was drained and didn't look like his
self. But then, it started to happen. Draymond started hearing these two fans trash talk,
and that was it. He was about to make it personal. I mean, according to No. 23 himself,
they were saying things like, The fans also told him that he was playing like he was
scared or something. I mean, these are the exact words that Draymond said to David Aldridge of
The Athletic when he asked what happened. He told me I was scared. I think that set me off
more than anything. When he was like, Oh, you scared? I was like, Scared? We're out here playing
the Washington Wizards on a soft Monday, and the games I played in, and I'm scared? Why would this
game scare me? 3pm on a Monday, Game 43. It's not even a national television game, let alone a big
game, so I think that probably set me off more than anything. Well, these fans had no idea what
they did, because in that fourth quarter, Draymond Green came out hard. I mean, he was hitting threes,
he was handing out dimes, he was going backdoor for open layups. In that fourth quarter, Draymond
went 4 for 4 from the field and 2 for 2 from 3 point range, and in total, he tallied up 11 points,
2 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. This isn't the end of the story either, because it wasn't
just Draymond that these fans were going up against that night. They were also going up
against the Curry family, too. Curry heard what was going on and went off in that fourth quarter,
too. I mean, in that final frame, the baby-faced assassin went 4 for 5 from the field, made 2 of
his three 3 point attempts, went a perfect 2 for 2 from the free throw line for a total of 12
fourth quarter points. And here's the part I didn't expect. Somehow, the GM of the Warriors,
Bob Myers, had heard of what went on, and before the game ended, you can actually see him walking
down the stairs to personally thank these two fans because of the motivation they provided
the Warriors when they needed it. In fact, this wasn't recorded on camera, but apparently Joe
Lacob also went to these two fans and appreciated their services. He actually offered the two a
pair of seats near the court for Thursday's game against the Celtics at the TD Garden for some
extra motivational support for the Warriors. And I wish they did go because the Warriors needed it
that game. Anyway, as we all know, the Warriors successfully mounted and defeated the Wizards,
but at the end of the game, the two fans weren't chirping anymore. No, no, no. In fact, before the
final buzzer sounded, you could actually see Steph Curry and Draymond pointing at them right over
there as they were making their exits without any final words. And here's what Curry had to say about
that. But that guy, he left early. I'm very disappointed. Very disappointed. We're running
out the clock. Like, you got to take that smoke the whole game. So as soon as we're walking back
to the bench, I thought there would be a final word. But I looked over and saw him walking out
before the clock was at zero. That's a cardinal rule. You can't do that.
Man, the Warriors really need to hire somebody to pose as a fan and just trash talk them from
time to time to get them going. Because based on these results, it's working. I mean, we've seen
it time and time again. Let's look outside of the Warriors really quick. One memorable example that
comes to mind was when LeBron was going up against Chris Bosh. I know this was ages ago, but that
night LeBron was having a rather pedestrian night, shooting like 6 of 19 from the field. But because
Bosh's cousin and girlfriend at the time from the sidelines started chirping and saying stuff
towards LeBron's direction, he went ballistic. In that fourth quarter, LeBron went off for like 24
points, then afterwards looked at the two of them and said, it's your fault. It's your fault.
Another prime example that comes to mind was when Michael Jordan said to Kobe,
you can wear the shoes, but you can't fill them. If y'all didn't know that story, well,
what happened was the Wizards beat the Lakers by like one point, I believe. Then MJ trash talk Kobe
by saying he could wear the Air Jordans, but he can never live up to them. Well, they had a rematch
just a few days later, but in between those two games, Kobe went furious and was in the gym day
and night. He didn't even talk to his teammates. But when the Lakers faced off against the Wizards
again, Kobe went black Mamba mode and absolutely destroyed Jordan with 55 points.
Anyway, I looked into this a bit to see if any actual research was done on this. And apparently
it was. A scientific study and inquiry was actually done on this topic of whether trash
talk could really motivate and bring out the best in an athlete. And its conclusion was that
athletes should incorporate feelings of anger into their sports routine and competition.
Because during these times where they feel angry, they feel more motivated and experience
increased levels of performance. Anyway, the Warriors front office really needs to
get some trash talking fans to sit courtside and rile up the Warriors. And if there's one person
in the world that could probably bring out the best in the Warriors for a particular night,
it'd probably be this guy based on his history with Draymond.
