Welcome back to Yankee Stadium in New York Guardians and Yankees wrapping up this three game series not the typical Yankee lineup you know no judge no Giancarlo Stanton they've got missing pieces they've got young guys who didn't do a lot last night they did just enough though to beat a Cleveland team that is also struggling offensively it's the Yankees Clark Schmitt six starts this season is not what he wants obviously a strikeout to walk ratio is not bad here is Steven Kwan Schmitt's pitch pitch swung on a looping liner base hit in the left field for Steven Kwan Kwan a threat to go he leads off first tell their Barreto and that's grounded to short there's one on the first it's a high throw and off the tip of the glove of Rizzo and that allows Rosario to reach so a bad throw by Gleyber Torres Jose Ramirez batting left handed and that is a fair ball Rizzo drops it in foul ground and Ramirez beats him to the bag. So back to back defensive miscues by the Yankees here in the early going and the Guardians have an opportunity now with two on and only one out Owen to turning these at bats into early high leverage situations for a guy that struggled and down goes Miller no score first inning and here's Josh Bell the aging tonight with the payoff pitch swung on ripped into right that's a base hit Rosario will score Ramirez will scamper to third and Josh Bell delivers a two out RBI single to right. Guardians at the corners with two down and Andres Jimenez Oh for his last nine the payoff swung on a chopper back up the middle and right center a base hit Ramirez will score Bell's on his way to third and Andres Jimenez able to get one through the right side as Jimenez will collect the third hit in the inning Shane Beaver he knows this Yankee lineup well he faced him in the playoffs last year and he's already seen him once this season. Here's Anthony Volpe to lead off with the Yanks and Volpe drives one toward the gap and left center but Kwan is over to cut down the turf in a hurry and make the catch. Now the two to swing and a miss Beaver struck him out first strikeout two down in the first year's Anthony Rizzo and he sends a fly ball to left but right at Steven Kwan and a quick one to three inning for Shane Beaver up the middle and through for a base hit for LeMahieu Calhoun. Now hit the home run that turned out to be the game winner. The pitch swung on one hopper to second up with it Jimenez to second one Rosario Taylor made turns to two down first ball swinging Harrison Bader with a high drive deep left on the warning track pulling it down as Steven Kwan and another low pitch inning for Shane Beaver and Cleveland with a chance for a big inning Naylor at second bell is at first nobody out. Not Bunning. Let's see if this is two it is four six three moving to third as Naylor looped into center field. Bader is there to make the play and that'll do it. No runs no hits one left Shane Beaver. He's made four pitches here in the third couple of line drive outs two down and Kyle he got Chioka and the wind and pitch swung on line to left field coming on as Kwan dives and makes the catch he smokes three line drive outs. It only took five pitches. So Rizzo gets another base and he's at first with two men out. Here is LeMahieu swing and a miss strike three. He chased it there and Beaver strikes him out. He's thrown just thirty two pitches over four innings as we start the bottom of the fifth with Willie Calhoun. High five on Sia a homerun his second in as many nights and it's two one Guardians. Willie Calhoun showed some of his power down in Texas before some injuries took it away from me. But all of a sudden you're right Michael back to back nights a huge home run last night and his second of the year gets the Yankees on the board. Jake Bowers that was driven to right field going back. Great Sia the Yankees have tied the game at two. A homerun for Bowers got a root for Bowers. He comes up. He was having a great year at Triple-A at nine home runs and twenty RBI so far this year comes up gets hurt the first two at bats tonight line grab the left tie game for the Yankees. Hamilton has been quite a fine for the Yankees made the team with an impressive spring training and he's been at excellent really excellent one point six to E.R.A. with 20 strikeouts. I mean that's pretty impressive and another good inning for Shane Beaver ballgames deadlock to two Yankees and Guardians to the seventh. Kwan makes the catch and a walk on four pitches. Here's Harrison Bader had a hit yesterday in his first game back Bader with a high fly ball left field not all that deep and Stephen Kwan pulls it down and top number two the pitch strike three called Bieber painted the outside corner with a fastball. Shane Bieber seven superb innings tonight and the short stop hole kind of Falefa is on. There he goes ball throw to second not in time wasted no time deep left center. But Kwan has room to make the catch. Tagging is kind of Falefa. He's going to third and he will make it grounded to third Ramirez coming home and he will get IKF for the second out as Volpe reaches on the field of his choice. All right. So the two throws over and they're saying that's a ball. I guess he stepped off before and that's when the umpire stood and pointed to each side of the plate. He must have disengaged. So that was the third throw over. And since you didn't get him then it's a ball. That's the only thing I could figure. And that's Terry Francona comes out the top of the up sixty one strikes for Bieber on the night. He needs one more to get through this inning. Swung on fly ball headed to medium deep center straw will make the catch and Shane Bieber does it again. The ninth innings next Cleveland and New York to to a light rain falling at the Yankees stadium as closer Clay Holmes comes on ninth inning two outs nobody on miles straw one for three a single swung on line toward center field moving over the sliding attempt ball skips away from kind of Falefa backed up by the center fielder Bader's throw to second not in time and a house so double by miles straw go ahead run at second to down in the ninth the pitch swung on a little looping fly shallow left the Yankees converging they dive in the ball is free on the ground. It's a base hit and end to score the go ahead run a straw for Yankees were all diving and sliding in shallow center and nobody caught it. An RBI single for Oscar Gonzalez so Holmes gives up a run and he certainly was not hit hard but Bader was and he's leaving the game. So Rizzo is on with a single dissenter and the Yankees will get a pinch runner in for him. Runner goes strike throw to second gets away not nearly in time anyway. So a stolen base for Peralta. But I've never seen that Michael Perez and did not slide. It looked like he kind of jammed his ankle. Well now Hicks will pinch run for Peralta who was pinch running for Rizzo. One Hopper Naylor will go to the bag now the tying run 90 feet away with one out Calhoun wrapped into a double play hit a home run and walked. There's a base hit to left field that'll tie the score Calhoun comes through it's three three. Well that smile tells it all a little confidence back to back nights with home runs and now a huge base hit in the bottom of the ninth. Well they will use the last player on the bench Jose Trevino is going to pinch it for Kyle Higashioka the second Bowers but the runner at third Cabrera that's the winning run. And there it is a base hit for Trevino and the Yankees win it and walk off fashion. Cabrera scores Trevino off the bench with a pinch hit game winning single and the Yankees win.
