Game two of this Mexico City
series Giants and the Padres
from Estadio Alfredo Arpa Lula
and the fans have filed in in
big numbers for the second
straight game.
It's the Giants and the Padres.
We had a stare off before the
game and two former teammates
Nick Martinez Sean Mania going
head to head this one up for I
don't know 10 15 minutes after
finally Mania walks away and
Nick Martinez Victor yes he
dinked up you know the umpires
talked to each of them and Nick
Martinez was like I'm holding my
ground I'm not going anywhere
and the Giants will face the
right handed starter for the
Padres it's you Darvish yeah you
Darvish taking the mound.
This is going to be an
interesting one for him.
He's one of the six pitchers in
Major League Baseball that has
not allowed a home run.
He has not been pitching at this
kind of altitude so we'll see
what kind of game he has leading
it off Lamont Wade Junior the
first baseman for the Giants
Lamont blast one down the right
field line toward the corner and
it is gone at that start for the
Giants.
Take that home run's given up.
Yeah it wasn't going to take
long.
It literally took a hitter here
in Mexico City one nothing
Giants.
And I was just about to say with
the abundance of pitches that you
Darvish throws what will be the
pitch today.
Swing and a miss and he goes
lunging strikeout number one for
you Darvish Darvish beat the
Diamondbacks seven to five last
Sunday allowed just one run and
five and two thirds racing to
the bag and Carpenter just gets
there in a slide for Peterson
was really beating it down the
line.
He's up number two swing and a
miss and Darvish strikes out
Hanager a home run for Lamont
Wade Junior it's one nothing
Giants and you had a
conversation with Alex this
morning about trying to handle
the elements here.
Yeah I mean he knows what his
pitches are are going to do or
not do on a consistent basis and
he lives off that fastball to
kind of set up that split finger
he's going to be heavy split
usage Tatis lines that one the
left Hanager will come in and
make the catch.
He got Machado that high
fastball.
Ninety seven.
Wow on the ground a third and a
nice stab by Davis because that
one had some weird action on it.
J.D. Davis continues to play
great third base defense one
nothing Giants J.D. Davis last
night had a single that started
that six run run.
He also had a walk.
He has been really good.
He's just been using his natural
reactions and his athleticism to
catch a baseball and he might
have taken that one deep Tatis
at the wall.
He'll leap and it's gone.
J.D. Davis with another home run
his sixth of the year and it's
two nothing Giants using that
whole whole field game.
You talk about that approach
with him all the time.
Five hits yesterday versus the
Giants second oldest player
major league history the five
hit game fly ball center field
back goes Yastrzemski leaps
can't catch it bangs into the
wall pretty hard Cruz is going
around second.
He's thinking three throw Will
Yates got himself a triple Cruz
was looking for that triple last
night to complete the cycle to
nothing Giants but a runner at
third the Giants infield stays
back Carpenter strikes out
swinging Cobb got him and he
threw it again through it again
back back to back on that deuce
and as a huge huge punch out
there's Cobb's to to he got him
foul tip into the middle Bart.
Great job Alex Cobb to score
less innings.
Perfect first and third
situation for the Giants Giants
at the corners and two down
already.
The Chanager runner takes off
for second and they got him hung
up to first and second.
He just stopped which fooled him
a little bit.
Got to keep an eye on the runner
at third to now throw to third
and he's going to be out got off
too far.
Strata was trying to cheat down
the line hoping that with the
pickle that Peterson was in that
he could maybe score but he gets
too far off and the Padres pick
him off.
Here's one Soto runners at the
corners one single right field
in the first inning and a hard
ground ball that could be two
wisely to second one and a
Strata makes a turn double play.
That's how you do it.
Alex Cobb more good pitching from
him.
So now Mitch Hanegar for the
Giants to lead off in the fourth
inning and Hanegar skies one to
left way back there it is gone.
Booming home run from Hanegar his
second in as many days and the
third of the day for the Giants
it's three nothing and runners at
first and third with nobody out.
And now Mike Yastrzemski comes
up important for the Giants to
add on here and Yastrzemski is
going to do just that right up
the middle base hit off the end
of the bat that'll score
Conforto Davis will stop at
second.
It's four nothing Giants not the
best swing.
It didn't sound that great.
Camos off the end of the bat got
a cutter there got enough of it
hits it up the middle to on
nobody out two runs in and Joey
Barke strike three call gets him
on the outside edge strikeout
number three for you Darvish
first out here of the fourth
inning swing and a miss.
And Darvish is able to strike out
wisely back to back games for
you Darvish and for it all swing
and a miss and Darvish strikes
out three in a row two runs for
the Giants to take a four
nothing lead.
Carpenter aboard with a single
is Austin Nola and Nola is
getting a new bat.
He's found a fracture in his
twig fly ball center field
Dastrzemski back and I love the
new bat to run home run for
Austin Nola with his new bat.
And it's now four to two
Padres cut the lead in half just
like that.
And a Padres fan makes the one
handed grab home run number one
of the year for Austin Nola.
And that's some Burrow fits
quite well.
Good for Austin Nola.
Four to San Francisco one out
nobody on for Tatis driven to
right center field and that ball
is going to one hop up and over
for Fernando.
They came hitting straight down
another Padres fan as Donnie
mentioned earlier the brown and
gold.
Oh yeah.
Dance like nobody's watching and
he represents the tying run
right now at the plate Padres
who are trailing for nothing
coming into the inning.
It's now four to swing and a
foul tip and he said it hit the
dirt.
Bart thinks he caught it and now
they're going to check with
first base umpire Jeremy Rehak
here and the second base umpire.
That's everybody's going to come
together.
Here comes Alfonso Marquez.
Question is did he catch it on
the fly or did it hit the ground.
What happens so quickly.
Oh he caught that ball.
Yeah he caught it cleanly.
It's looking like strike three.
Yeah they got the call right.
Yes that's the second out of the
inning.
So no single to right in the
first round it into a four six
three DP in the third inning on
the ground and throw into right
field a base hit for Soto.
Here comes Fernando.
He will score the third Padres
run and it's a one run game.
Juan Soto driving in a row.
It was the splitter knee high
not down enough and Soto finds
the hole and off and running.
That's an easy score right there
as Fernando Scampers home as he
works to his first hitter of the
sixth inning Darvish has retired
six in a row and for the six by
way of the K swing and a miss
and can for those strikes out
seven strikeouts for you Darvish
say what you Darvish couldn't
have walked up to home plate
place this pitch any better.
Watch the glove of Nola.
He doesn't even move it.
Whoa barely got it off swing and
a miss and he strikes out J.D.
Davis back to back case eight
and all for Darvish two down
swing and a miss and he struck
him out that cutter again nine
strikeouts for you Darvish able
to strike out Barton the inning
it's four three San Francisco
and a one out walk for one Soto
breaks up a string of eight in
a row retired by Giants pitching
and we will see Zander Bogarts
who does not have a hit today
he's not been on base today
lying to left a base hit for
Bogarts he has now hit safely or
reach base safely in 30 straight
Padres games Soto at second
Bogarts at first and Jake
Cronenworth who sat at home for
three day today to right and
that's it for a base hit Soto
being waved around here comes to
throw it is going to be cut off
and the Padres tie the game Jake
Cronenworth RBI single to right
and the Padres tie it up four to
four Zander Bogarts at third
base the go ahead run so we do
it again three and two there's a
battle right here Duvall versus
Carpenter Carpenter hits a
flyball to center field shallow
coming in is just Trotsky he
does can't get it is going to
score Cronenworth is going to
score and the Padres are going
to take a six four lead in
Josh Haider trying to close the
door on the Giants just one
hopper Cronenworth got it he'll
flip to Haider out is
spectacular at first base Donny
I with you one hundred percent
to one is on the ground is short
Bogarts on the run and in time
to go back up the middle Kim has
got it his throw it's high
Padres win a victory for the
Padres they take both games in
the Mexico City series.
