Nick Lodolo looking for a bounce back.
Yeah, last time out, Lodolo just didn't have the command.
Simeon stands in.
He's been hot.
Got a look at top of the zone.
Heaters strike three.
It's Robbie Grossman, the batter.
Nice strike three call.
And Lowe takes strike three call.
Fastball right down the middle.
Lodolo punches out the side in the first, all looking.
It's Nathan Valde on the mound for the Rangers tonight.
Bash to left, Bubba Thompson shading his eyes.
Couldn't find it.
And Thompson concedes.
Standing double with the aid of the sun.
So here's a prime chance to get a run.
First innings have been disastrous
for the Reds this year.
And bounces, India takes off.
Wild pitch.
Three-two pitch and a swing and a miss.
He gets a big strikeout of Friedel.
Two-two pitch and a swing and a miss.
Back-to-back strikeouts.
Tyler Stevenson will come to the plate.
Runner at third, two outs.
One-oh to Tyler Stevenson.
Bounce to third. India breaks for home.
Scooped by Young. Throw to first.
And a bounce is lost.
India scores.
Stevenson reaches.
And the Reds take a one-nothing lead.
He swings weakly.
Rolls it by the mound.
Second baseman circles.
Throws late to first.
Fraley beat it out.
Valde wastes no time.
And a swing and a miss.
He strikes out Myers.
In fact, strikes out the side in the first.
But allows a run.
Lodolo was awfully sharp in the first.
Dolis Garcia.
And Lodolo strikes him out on three pitches.
He has struck out the first four hitters of the game.
There's one away here in the top of the second for Josh Young.
Young swings and hammers one down the left-field line,
hooking towards the pole.
If it's fair, it's gone.
That ball is out of here.
A fair ball just inside the pole.
Down the left-field line.
And Josh Young evens the game at one with his fourth home run of the year.
And now Duran.
This one out to right field.
And carrying pretty well off the base of the fence.
And Duran slides into second base with a one-out double.
Gives Laody Taveras a chance here.
And he hits his ball sharply down the first baseline.
That should get Duran to the plate.
It does.
Throw goes to second.
Laody is in there with a double.
And it's two to one, Rangers.
Down and in.
Five strikeouts for Lodolo.
Right-handed hitting.
Thompson is four for 25 to start the year.
And Bubba lays down a bunt.
Third base side.
And there will be no play on that.
Thompson with a bunt single.
And the Rangers have him on the corners.
Simeon now.
This one on the ground and through into left field.
That's a base hit for Simeon.
It adds another run.
And the Rangers are on top three to one.
And the hits just keep coming.
Payoff pitch is hit in the air.
Right field.
Moving back on it toward the corner is Fraley.
He'll get there and make the catch.
The side is retired.
Here's Adonis Garcia.
Here's a ground ball left side of the infield.
It's knocked down by Steer.
But no play.
And Garcia has an infield hit.
And here's Josh Young homered last time up.
And that's in the air center field.
Sinzel looking up.
That is gone.
Whoa.
That's a big boy home run for Josh Young.
His fifth of the year.
And Josh Young with a multi-home run game.
And the Rangers lead five to one.
And now the 1-0 to Duran.
And he hits this ball hard into left field.
That's a base hit.
Slodolo kicks.
He comes home and the pitch is down and in.
Ball four.
That is a bullet diving snag by Barrero.
The quick turn, and that's a double play.
That is a big league turn and a big league play
by Jose Barrero and Jonathan India.
Jonathan India has doubled
and has scored the Reds' lone run.
Three-two.
Tight.
India's on the one.
Inside and a hit him.
Reds with runners at first and second for Spencer Steere.
Lifted high and deep to dead center field.
E. Tavares turns, runs, can't get it.
It'll one-hop the wall.
That will score India.
Here comes Friedel.
He's on his horse.
He will score and end the third with a triple.
That is Spencer Steere, and it's now a 5-3 ball game.
And just like that, the Reds are right back in it.
So they're going to chopper to third.
Young charges.
The runner comes home and scores.
Young's throw to first is there.
And the Reds have three runs in the inning.
The Rangers' 5-1 lead is now 5-4.
Swing and a miss.
Fraley strikes out.
Here it is.
And he gets a swing and a miss.
Myers chases, strike three, and the inning is done.
So back and forth we go.
Inside, and he didn't go.
That's ball four.
And so he works his first walk of the year.
Bubba's running.
And the pitch is either throw to second, very high.
And this one will go to the alley in right field.
Drops down, base hit.
That's the cleanest way to do it,
an RBI single by Grossman.
And the Rangers add a big run.
It's 6-4.
Might have broke his bat.
Barrero hits the bag.
Good overhand throw, double play.
T.J. Friedel has struck out.
He's been hit by a pitch and scored.
Over third, base hit.
T.J. Friedel, ball player.
Runner goes, great break.
Pitch up and in, throw down, decent one.
Safe.
Friedel swipes second.
This one out to center field.
Taveras to his left.
He'll reel it in.
Tagging at second, Friedel.
He'll move up.
But that's the second out of the inning.
Boy, that ball hit hard.
Out to left field, but Bubba Thompson able to get back to it.
And the inning is done,
and Nathan Rivaldi appreciates it.
Dane Dunning ready to go here
in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Well, since Spencer Steer's two-run triple,
Texas pitching has faced one over the minimum.
India hits one on the ground sharply to second.
Simeon's there, and that is an easy 1-2-3 inning
for Dane Dunning on just eight pitches.
First pitch of the bottom of the eighth.
Lifted out to left, and a sliding catch by Bubba Thompson.
One away, another good defensive play by Bubba tonight.
There's a line drive over second into center field.
A base hit, one-out single for Spencer Steer,
and now Tyler Stevenson.
Again, the 3-2.
A little high ball four, so he loses Stevenson,
and that puts the tying run on here.
This one popped up on the infield.
Infield fly rule in effect, and there are two gone.
He walks to load the bases.
They are loaded up.
The tying runs are in scoring position,
and here comes Bruce Poche.
He's already signaled that that'll bring on Jose LeClerc.
He has yet to allow a run, but he does have four walks.
He can get wild at times.
3-1.
And that's a run.
Runners go.
Bases loaded, walks.
Fairchild scores six all.
Hits in moments like this have been elusive.
All right, the 1-2.
They check his swing.
Nope, that time he went, and that ends the inning at long last.
Jonathan India leads it off,
and that pitch is low.
In run is on.
So Poche has seen enough.
That'll do it for LeClerc.
Will Smith will be heading in.
It gets by.
India up to second.
The winning run in scoring position with nobody out.
Payoff.
To right center.
Rebs win it.
He scores the first walk-off of 2023
as the Rebs take the opener with Texas 7-6.
